I wondered whether anyone would remember that today was the second anniversary of Eddie's death. Pleased to hear that Michael James especially and Sharon Brittan have.

My thoughts today also go out to Eddie's widow, Sue, and the rest of his family.

Agreed. Absolute star for this club and despite his detractors like Sluffy, most people appreciate the man. RIP

Wanderers have announced a lasting tribute to late owner Eddie Davies CBE on the second anniversary of his death.

The chairman’s suite at the University of Bolton Stadium will now be re-named the ‘Eddie Davies Chairman’s Suite’ after the Little Lever-born businessman, who died in 2018.

Davies joined the board at Bolton in 1999 and became majority shareholder and owner in 2003, providing the finance to establish his boyhood club as a Premier League force which twice qualified for European competition.

He sold Wanderers to Sports Shield BWFC in 2016 but not before wiping off approximately £175million in loans to the club.

Another loan was supplied in September 2018 to pay off a major creditor, which effectively stopped Bolton from being placed into administration.

Just days later, however, Davies sadly passed away on a family holiday at the age of 72.

Wanderers have taken the decision to honour his memory and, says director, Michael James, provide a fitting acknowledgment to what he accomplished.

“Eddie was not only a tremendous benefactor of Bolton Wanderers for over 15 years, he was also a philanthropist whose generosity benefited a number of institutions throughout the country including Bolton Hospital, Manchester University and the prestigious Kew Gardens in London.

“Having known Eddie throughout his tenure as the owner of the club I was aware of how much Bolton Wanderers meant to him.

“Even after his ownership came to an end in 2016, he continued to support the club until his sad passing two years ago.”

Bolton Wanderers chairman, Sharon Brittan added: “On this day the collective thoughts of the entire Bolton Wanderers family go out to Sue and all of Eddie’s family.”

Wanderers rename Chairman’s Suite after Eddie Davies

On the second anniversary of his passing, Bolton Wanderers Football Club has today announced that the Chairman’s Suite at the University of Bolton Stadium will be named after our former owner, Eddie Davies CBE.

The ‘Eddie Davies Chairman’s Suite’ will be a perpetual tribute to Eddie, who joined the Board of Bolton Wanderers in 1999 before becoming the Club's majority shareholder and owner in 2003.

He presided over arguably the Club’s most successful period in the modern era, including the European adventures.

Commenting on the dedication of the Suite, Bolton Wanderers Director Michael James said: “Eddie was not only a tremendous benefactor of Bolton Wanderers for over 15 years, he was also a philanthropist whose generosity benefited a number of institutions throughout the country including Bolton Hospital, Manchester University and the prestigious Kew Gardens in London.

''Having known Eddie throughout his tenure as owner of the Club I was aware of how much Bolton Wanderers meant to him. Even after his ownership came to an end in 2016, he continued to support the Club until his sad passing two years ago.”

Bolton Wanderers Chairman, Sharon Brittan added: “The Eddie Davies Chairman’s Suite is a fitting tribute and we want to ensure Eddie’s legacy is remembered by Bolton Wanderers supporters for many years to come.

“On this day, the collective thoughts of the entire Bolton Wanderers family go out to Sue and all of Eddie’s family.”
