Marcus Maddison completed a late deadline day move to Bolton Wanderers Football Club when he signed on loan until the end of the season.
The hugely-talented winger, who has the eye for an audacious goal, made his name at Peterborough United where he netted 62 goals in 249 appearances for the London Road outfit.
Born in Durham, he came through the youth ranks at Newcastle United before playing for Blyth Spartans, St Johnstone and Gateshead.
He then joined The Posh in the summer of 2014 where he enjoyed a six-year spell before signing for Hull City on a six-month loan in January 2020.
Later that year he completed a permanent move to Charlton Athletic where he made ten appearances, netting twice in his short time at The Valley.
Commenting about his move to the University of Bolton Stadium, Maddison said: “As soon as I heard Bolton Wanderers were interested in me they immediately became my Number One choice.
“Bolton are a big club and are in a position where they shouldn’t be. I am going to do my best to help get them back to where they belong.
“As a winger, goals and assists are a huge part of my game and I’m really looking forward to playing for the club.
A delighted Wanderers Manager Ian Evatt told bwfc.co.uk: “Marcus is a fantastic talent and is a player I have long admired.
“He brings quality to the squad and will be a big player for us for the remainder of the season.”

Great, great signing and a bit of a prick too - which I think we need.

I read some criticism about him not being a “team player” - but he is allegedly a free kick specialist.gloswhite wrote:In what way TROY?

Hasn't stop moaning whenever I've seen him play, struck me as a wind up merchant.

A lot of Charlton fans glad to see the back of him, saying he hasn't put in much effort for them. Hopefully Evatt can get him playing and up for it.

We'll have the initial enthusiasm bonus, and we'll have to see where he goes from there I suppose

He has to be better than Crawford at free kicks.wanderlust wrote:

Ian Evatt told bwfc.co.uk: “Marcus is a fantastic talent and is a player I have long admired.
“He brings quality to the squad and will be a big player for us for the remainder of the season.”
Evans is good at signing fantastic players he has long admired, they show occasional flashes of skill but then go missing for the next 20 minutes of a game.
I hope he is that awkward bastard we require in the team, instead of adding to the bunch of lightweights who make up most of our squad.

“I demand professionalism” – Charlton boss Lee Bowyer on Marcus Maddison’s Bolton loan
Lee Bowyer has spoken for the first time about Marcus Maddison’s exit from Charlton Athletic – admitting his move for the maverick attacker failed to pay off.
The former Peterborough United and Hull City player joined Bolton Wanderers on deadline deal in a loan deal until the end of the campaign.
Maddison’s Valley contract is due to expire at the end of June, although the SE7 outfit also have an option of another 12 months.
But Bowyer’s comments suggest there is no way back for the27-year-old, who has made the drop into League Two.
The Addicks manager said: “I took a gamble on Marcus – against a lot of people saying not to. I tried to improve his professionalism, if you like. But unfortunately it just hasn’t worked out.
“The one thing I do is I demand a certain standard and that goes throughout the whole team. The other thing I demand is that you have to be hungry and proud to play for this football club. So there were certain things that happened that weren’t right.
“No one person is bigger than the club – that includes myself. Players come and players go, managers come and go – that’s football.
“The most important thing for me is that the squad is happy and then you all have to be in this together. We win together and lose together, you can’t afford to carry anyone.”

Darrah MacAnthony was in the press this week saying similar about him. Sounds like he’s a bit of a prat, good gamble to take though. Good test for Evatt id say

Darrah MacAnthony (Peterborough Chairman) video about Maddison.
From 4 min 20 secs onwards.
He's not best pleased with Madison to say the least!

We both know his name, but you don't grasp the humour of Nat when she started to call him Evans.BoltonTillIDie wrote:

Everything I’ve read about Maddison since he signed tells me he’s a prick and if Evatt manages to get a tune out of him without spending a fortune or upsetting the dressing room it’ll be a miracle.Sluffy wrote:Darrah MacAnthony (Peterborough Chairman) video about Maddison.
