George Thomason hopes to repay the faith shown in him by Wanderers after putting pen to paper on his new 18-month contract.

The promising midfielder, who would have been a free agent in the summer, is now tied to the club until the end of next season.

The 20-year-old has burst onto the first team scene under Ian Evatt, making 10 appearances and scoring his first professional goal in the draw at Carlisle on Boxing Day.

“Wanderers gave me my first taste of professional football and I’m buzzing to sign this new deal,” Thomason said.

”The manager and the management team have put their trust in me and I intend to repay that.”

Arriving as a raw prospect from Longridge Town in January 2020, former Blackpool youth player Thomason has also spent time on loan in the Northern Premier League with Bamber Bridge.

“George is a wonderful young lad and we are delighted to have agreed a new contract with him,” Evatt said.

“He’s got lots of work to do but he’s a fantastic young player.

“He wants to be here for the right reasons and we’ll carry on working with him and developing him.”
