Antoni Sarcevic could make a stunning comeback for Wanderers in Saturday’s promotion six-pointer at Morecambe.

The Bolton captain has been out of action since March 13 with a hamstring injury, but Ian Evatt insists his talisman is ready and willing to start the match, if called upon.

Wanderers lead Morecambe by a point in the table and victory would mean they need just one more win from their final two games to be mathematically assured of League One football next season.

Asked if Sarcevic was fit enough to be named in the first XI, Evatt said: “He is a really fit lad. He is fit enough to start.

“It is a boost for everyone because he is a fantastic football player at this level. He is the captain of this football club and when the opposition see Sarcevic’s name, he is a player to be worried about. We have many of those.

“It is another fantastic option for me and of course he is a goal threat. We have more than one – but if Sarce wants to be that man and we win 1-0 again, I’ll be more than happy.”

Wanderers have a home game with Exeter City and a trip to Crawley to come in their final two games and could guarantee themselves a play-off spot, depending on results elsewhere on Saturday evening.

Morecambe have Walsall away and Bradford City at home in their final two games, leading Evatt to believe there is more pressure on his opponents to get a positive result.

“This might be controversial but I still believe it is a bigger game for them than it is for us because we’re ahead of them in the division,” he said. “We have more points as it stands so a draw is no good for them. We don’t need to win the game, even though we will be looking to do so.

“My players are in good spirits, good confidence, they know what is at stake. There is no shielding them from that. All I want from them is to turn up because if they play to their best capability I believe they are the better team – that’s my opinion, others may differ and I am sure Derek would say his team is better than us. But how I see it is that if my team plays to the level I believe they can play at then we are going to be a handful for Morecambe on Saturday.”

Stunning? I'd be more stunned if we scored a couple of goals in the same match.

Perhaps tomorrow will be the day?

But don't hold your breath.

We are very good at possession of the ball until we get anywhere near the opposition's goal area, then it's a case of smash it in and hope Doyle is around to score.
