Pawn Shops

When I was a lad I knew about Pawn Shops but never saw any in Bolton, now the town centre has one on every corner. A damning enditement of the state of Britain today. Proof, if ever needed, of how we have gone backwards in the last thirty years.
I wonder how long it will be before chimney shinning apprenticeships will be introduced for school leavers!?!

It is , but when i was a kid there were Pawnbrokers about, remember there being one at the bottom of Folds rd. there were also money lenders, but i don't think they were as nasty as they are today..

I think there used to be a Pawn Brokers opposite the south entrance of the Market Hall in the late 70s and early 80s. I thought it was all shops like Cash Generator nowadays. The place where thieving scores take all their ill gotten gains.
