I know I'm in a minority of one here, but I don't have a problem with the word banter. Why does it piss people off so much?

I don't really mind it, but it's said by "lads" and cockney wankers.

It's said by anybody when they really just mean 'communicating' in general.
I'm sick of hearing people say "we were having a bit of banter" when all they actually mean is they were having a conversation - which didn't necessarily involve any banter.

NOT FORGETTING...

the people who have even gone a step further and decided that banter can be something you possess, aswell as participate in.
I've heard "I really like him, because he's got banter!" and "The things I look for in a woman include, looks, good body, banter..."
What's that all about?

I hope the new name doesn't include the word 'chat'. Internet chat is something else, and it's a stupid word.

Do you fold your underpants when you take them off?

I chuck them in the washing basket!

But regards a name for the forum I am stuck in two minds.

Should it, or does it need to be, creative or wacky or inventive - or outside the box? Does it enhance the forum?
Would a generic simple name be off putting to new users? Would a potential newbie find it cliquey if the forum title was not straight forward?
Eg, if the football section was called "Coyle's Calamity" and the general non football bit was called "Off the pitch" - it would be unnecessarily confusing to new members in my opinion. That is not to say it really is confusing. Just that from a new member point of view an easier, simpler experience all adds to sign ups and retentions based on first impressions. I think.

Bla Bla Bla...
