Bolton Wanderers star Neil Danns that loan signing Joe Mason is giving the players an energy boost

Wanderers midfielder Neil Danns says the displays of strikers Lukas Jutkiewicz and Joe Mason against Watford are a sign of things to come from the pair.

Both got on the scoresheet to help the Whites to a third home league win of the campaign.

And Danns believes the arrival of Mason and his energy can be a spark for Jutkiewicz to go on and add to his three goals in four games record.

Danns said: “When you have got someone like Joe coming back, he likes to run in behind and he gives you that energy.

“Jukes thrived off that you could see and I benefited so much from those runs which created space for me.

“It was as simple as Joe making his runs in behind. It was there for everyone to see and we definitely felt it as well.

“I played against Lukas quite a few times. He has always been a handful so I knew when he came he would be a quality signing.

“With the arrival of Joe Mason now we have got two quality strikers; both different but both capable of putting the ball in the net. When you have got that, you have got a chance.”

Danns enjoyed being part of a winning team again after Wanderers ended their two-month wait for three Championship points.

And the Liverpudlian, who replaced the injured Darren Pratley midway through the first half, says it is a huge relief to everyone in the camp.

He added: “ I would be lying if I said there wasn’t anxiety but we knew we had enough quality in the squad when we turn it on and everything clicks. “(On Saturday) we never really looked like conceding apart from the header in the first half.

“After that it was mainly us who looked like scoring. That was great because it is normally Watford who are a free scoring team with good movement. But it was us who played like the Watford that everyone knows. “You can feel the vibe. Everyone is buzzing and happy.

“It was an overall good performance and the boys thoroughly enjoyed it.

“We played with a freedom and that was the difference.

“It was thoroughly enjoyable to play in and give the fans something to cheer about. We created so many chances to give them the oohs and aahhs.

“We have another home game against Blackburn so hopefully we can keep this feel-good factor going.”

There’s a chance top scorer Jermaine Beckford could be back in contention for Saturday’s Lancashire derby against Blackburn, though he may have a fight on his hands to displace Jutkiewicz and Mason. Danns believes it is good for the team to have more good striking options available.

He said: “I don’t think he (Beckford) will be worried. He will take any competition that is coming.

“However, when he’s back it will boost the squad and make us even stronger and give us even more options. We just want them to keep doing well and hopefully if they are doing well, we will be doing well.”

What a shame that none of the three main people in this article actually belong to us. I fear a repeat of last season, we'll do well from now till May, they'll go back to their parent clubs and come August we'll be right back where we started this season. 

I agree with what Danns said, Mason and Jutkiewicz looks promising as a partnership BUT we need to start finding ways to make our OWN players perform to that level consistently.

Our own players have been given plenty of chances and failed to produce the goods so I don't see it as a worry - they'll be moved on in the summer unless they do an amazing job on loan. Loaning them out gives them a chance to prove themselves without costing us anything and it's fairly obvious that the summer will see a quite few changes anyway. Apart from those out of contract we may be able to get the likes of Andrews off the books as well.

lusty I admire your optimism but I think you miss my point. You and many others keep going on about "summer's lower wage bill" as if it will solve all our problems and the manager will get all of the funds released to spend. 

It won't and he won't. I think we're so deep in the mire Dougie or whomever the manager might be will be lucky to see close to even half of that "released funds" money. Our own players have been given plenty of chances? Really? So has dougie and yet the ONLY time we look decent is when he sends out the players he's failed to motivate, improve or get the best out of and brings in someone else's players as a short term fix.

I don't want to get too down on your bright eyed enthusiasm here but Dougie is clearly incapable of working with players who less than three years ago were in the top half of the premier league on their way to an FA Cup Semi Final to boot. 

Unless DOUGIE makes some amazing progress of his own (which I don't see happening) then the very FIRST body out of the door in summer should be his alongside the clown who appointed him.
