Joe Mason cleared for action

Joe Mason has officially received international clearance and is eligible for this weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest at Macron Stadium.

The striker recently penned a loan deal from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City.

And after missing the midweek Capital One Cup tie against Bury he could now make the first appearance of his third loan spell at with the Trotters this weekend.

Mason, 23, has been handed shirt number nine.

Why do you need international clearance if you were born in Plymouth?

He's Irish.

Right, I thought Plymouth was in Devon.

I have to agree with Nat and say this is odd. Even if he's Irish they're part of the EU and as such he should not have needed international clearance. Add to that the fact he wasn't actually changing clubs, merely extending a loan from last season and that he's only played for us in 2014 and he shouldn't have needed clearance at all should he?

perhaps it's because he moved from a Welsh club? Would that make a difference?
