I've been having an argument with my friend for the past few days about whether we as a country should leave the EU.

Personally I am all for leaving the EU the benefits of leaving for me far outweigh the benefits of staying in.
It has run it's course as far as I'm concerned. It just doesn't work, it stopped working when they let countries with weak economies join.

Would just like to get everyone else's opinion on the matter.

I'm firmly for staying in, but totally accept it needs reform as well. Larger debate to be had, but Emmerdale starting....

God, I wish you'd got elected.

Hansard would be so much more interesting.  Very Happy

I think trade agreements are enough.

We pay a hell of a lot of money in for little return.

Being over ruled on decisions by Europe.

Immigration is a shambles, just look at the issue with Calais.

The latest refugee situation now, I don't think we should be taking any. Maybe a bit heartless but we need to help by all means in fixing the root cause, accepting them all isn't going to solve anything.

i'm with Manda on this, we need to stay in but major reforms are needed. I have a feeling we will be out though when the referendum comes

I 100% agree, you can't really say much about immigration these days without getting jumped on by the PC brigade.

I read somewhere it costs around £24 million per day to be in the EU after everything is considered. It's a hell of a lot of money to be throwing away which could be better spent elsewhere. Housing, NHS, Policing, Education and Military.

What about you two Scott and Bounce?

In, although it must surley be dawning even in Brussels that it cannot continue as it is, it should return to being a common market, Schengen should be dismantled and the weaker economies managed out of the single currency. The Germans especially need to understand that running an Empire is not all champagne and roses and that they need to lead on Foreign policy and be prepared to intervene militarily, Europe cannot keep expecting the US to fight their battles.

In fairness Karly, the refugee crisis has very little to do with the EU.

At the risk of being accused of simply going along with the rest of the BC, I'm very much in favour of staying in.

I honestly believe we're better off on the inside looking out rather than being outside looking in.

And I love continental Europe and I class myself as a European.

Short and sweet.
