Sorry but what has tourism got to do with us being in the EU? Tourists will still come if they want to whether we are in the EU or not.

We don't get far more out of it than what we put in, that's nonsense when you see what some of the basket case countries are putting in and getting out.

As for trade........

OK so we don't get subsidies to clean our beaches, we don't get subsidies for the public transport infrastructure, we don't get grants for area improvements such as creating well overo 10,000 jobs at Spinningfields in Manchester, we don't get better subsidies than the French for our farmers, we don't get subsidies for our fishermen, we don't get subsidies for road improvement schemes, we don't get subsidies for acre homes homes etc etc etc etc etc

And yet people say we put in more than we get out!!!

It is a case of get real and find out the truth rather than relying on scandal rags for information - and yet these scandal rags are owned by the conglomerates who only work in Euro rather than Pound Sterling.

Tourism does come hand in hand with the EU and there are plenty of subsidies and help with regards to tourism, which would not happen if we were outside the EU.

OK we leave the EU and supposedly save £14billion a year - how much would it cost to trade with the EU as we would still have to pay to trade - just like with any other international trade agreement.  Out of all the subsidies and grants we receive from the EU which projects would have to be withdrawn to save money as we would not be able to fund all of the subsidies/grants from any savings we supposedly make?  We would lose the right to by as much as we like and bring back as the true duty free would have to be brought back which limits us to only £200 goods and limit the amount of alcohol and cigarettes.  We would lose European wide working laws which have only just been strengthened by those who travel to multiple sites having to paid for travelling time (this helps carers the most as majority do not get paid for travelling time), as well as helping to equalise work life balances by regulating number of hours one is supposed to work (and yes we do have an opt-out clause if you want to use it) - less red tape when it comes to laws and trading such as copyright laws, less paper work for shipping etc etc etc  and then there is the European arrest warrant which means if we were outside the EU it would be far more difficult, and costly, to extradite criminals to face court.

As for the Telegraph piece you posted - read the final paragraph....

"Elizabeth Martins, an economist at HSBC, warned that the jump in goods exports largely came from growth in non-EU markets. She said this was "a move which could be vulnerable to reversal in coming months"."

In other words as the continuing downward trend picks up due to the market share collapse in China then the non-EU markets will become even more difficult to trade with and a such reliance on the EU market becomes more prominent - and when this was written the refugee crisis hadn't taken full effect like it did in August and beginning of this month meaning more people in Europe which means more money to be spent by people and Govenrments for good and services and that means an increase in the EU market!!!

So are all the migrants going to claim asylum?
Assuming they do where are the jobs for them?
ffs there's unemployment in every country and suddenly we need to find work for more!

Considering many of the refugees have left prestigious jobs (which go against the ISIS ideology) then I would say that there is more than plenty of jobs for them - many are from the health industry such as Doctors and  Nurses, which we need badly - others are dentists, teachers and solicitors who need very little reskilling and can easily fit into our society!

Lets not forget that the refugees are not poor people but people who are being forced out due to death threats!

Born and bred in Bolton I have never considered myself as European and probably never will. Of course there are benefits in trading within a European common market but most of the time it seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
Some of the EU dictats and regulations are an insult to common sense.

Such as?

To be fair I am actually interested in which ones you mean - not to demean you or anything but more about open discussion.

Being prosecuted for selling items in pounds and ounces is ludicrous. As long as you offer the option of buying in kilos as well, then why shouldn't people have the freedom of choice?

Bananas.....having to be of a certain defined shape......Oh really? who cares? Rolling Eyes

The European Human Rights Act has been abused on umpteen occasions by murderers and criminals who argue that being deported is a breach of their right to a family life. Oh really?

They say it because it's true you fantasist.

As one of the richer nations it doesn't take much thinking about why this is the case.
