Several triallists have been involved in our recent U23 games - which we have lost - but it's good to know Hillcroft are still looking to expand the squad and that - presumably - there's some money there to allow that to happen although by the look of things they are going to have to kiss a lot of frogs before they find what they're looking for.

And youth seems to be the common factor as Sylla and Niakate (both 22) and Gilson de Costa (23) have also been looked at - presumably in the hope that we can get a bit of quality with potential to develop on the cheap.

Watching Tyrone Mings playing a blinder for England last night I was remembering watching him when he was a crap left back for Ipswich at that age so I guess there's hope. And I'm sure we can all remember how poor Rodrigo was when he came to us on loan at 19 but didn't mature as a player until he was 25/26 and is now a star of Spanish football.
Maybe there's a potential late developer amongst them that even we can afford?

Wondering what the upcoming window will bring. Having missed out on the cup money I’d be surprised if we give everyone and their dog a trial like we did over the summer and not sure whose loan spells will not be renewed but it would be great if Hill has something up his sleeve.

So it's goodbye to Verlinden and Bridcutt - two of the better players in the team IMO. Hopefully we can bring in some quality to replace them.
