Pundits praise 'relentless' Wanderers after late Fleetwood comeback 16176806

EFL pundit Clinton Morrison says Wanderers have a “never say die attitude” following their dramatic 2-1 win against Fleetwood.

Carlos Mendes Gomes put the hosts in front with a thumping strike from outside the box after 16 minutes.

Ian Evatt’s men wasted several good opportunities at the other end, and it started to feel like it would be one of those days.

But Conor Bradley got the Whites back on level terms five minutes from time, slotting home from Kieran Sadlier’s low cross.

And Dapo Afolayan struck the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time after some good work by Josh Sheehan.

Former Crystal Palace striker Morrison singled Afolayan out for praise and says Wanderers “never know when they are beaten”

Speaking as a pundit on the EFL highlights show, he said: “Afolayan scoring the winner there. He has scored three (league) goals this season and they have all been winners.

“So credit must go to him, and credit to Bolton because Ian Evatt’s team never know when they are beaten. They have that desire to keep going and going. Relentless.”

He added: “The manager can do as much as he can on the side of the pitch but it’s down to the players.

“And when the players implement that and go onto the pitch and cross that white line, they have that never say die attitude and they keep going to the end. They never know when they are beaten.”

The result sees Evatt’s men return to fifth in the League One table – level on points with fourth-place Peterborough despite having played a game fewer.

The Whites are back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome Barrow to the UniBol in the last 32 of the Papa Johns Trophy (KO 7:45pm).
