TRANSFER LINK: Rangers 'tracking' Wanderers goalkeeper Trafford 16309701

Wanderers goalkeeper James Trafford has reportedly been “attracting interest” from Scottish giants Rangers.

The Manchester City loanee has continued his consistent form from the second half of last season and has been a mainstay in Ian Evatt’s side, becoming a popular figure among supporters.

Trafford has kept 10 clean sheets in 22 League One appearances since the start of the campaign – a total only Sheffield Wednesday’s David Stockdale can better.

The goalkeeper has also represented England at Under-21 level, having made his first appearance against Kosovo back in June.

His performances have caught the eye of last season’s Europa League finalists, according to a report by The Daily Mail.

Speaking earlier this season, Ian Evatt said: “We know he is a very good goalkeeper and he has got a strong mentality and attitude.

“You are going to need to have if you have aspirations of playing for England and Manchester City, and that is where he is at at the moment.

“You have to be strong between the ears and he is a confident boy, there is no doubt about that.”

Rangers are currently second in the Scottish Premiership table, having lost just two league matches since the start of the season.

Michael Beale took charge at Ibrox earlier this month after opting to leave his position at Championship club QPR.

Beale’s current goalkeeping options include 40-year-old Allan McGregor and former Sunderland man John McLaughlin.

Rangers are back in action on Monday, January 2 when they face current leaders Celtic at Ibrox (12:30pm).
