Agree about Fraser, I'd like an explanation of that. All I can assume is the kid had an attitude problem and asked to move back north. Don't be surprised to see us get Gregus at the end of his contract or at a reduced price, we clearly couldn't afford to pay them what we agreed last year.

Odelusi's career looked dead before Dougie came in (his words) he's since been knocking on the door, as are White and Kellett.

The development squad were poor when Dougie arrived, he's shifted plenty out and he's brought some in. But you need to be far more realistic Rebel 12 months is nowhere near enough time to bring players through even if we had a good development squad on Dougie's arrival.

I can still see Gregus coming back to us and Odelusi certainly has potential. I haven't seen enough of White to comment.

There's only so much managers can do in terms of the youth squad. A lot of people might look at Zaha and think Dougie deserves a lot of credit there, but does anybody honestly think Freedman's the reason Zaha's now at Man Utd as opposed to Rochdale?

Unfortunately, it comes down largely to the hand you're dealt and Bolton Wanderers doesn't have a great record in this area. Obviously it's encouraging that Dougie has made some additions of his own. Only time will tell if they were worth it.

Blackpool fans on the forums are saying Blackpool just need numbers regardless of quality; maybe we could loan them some more players!

Not surprised really. I didn't think that Dougie was doing a Coyle and going after another midfielder when we need defenders.

That is so annoying. He knows he's not playing for us but he also knows that if he doesn't move on he's damaging BWFC by not releasing the funds we need to develop the team.

Seems he is fucking us around again like he did with Millwall:-

Tyrone Mears’ loan move to Blackpool was thrown into doubt last night despite Wanderers offering to fund the transfer.

Dougie Freedman said the club had volunteered to “heavily sponsor” the deal but that the final decision would be left to the full-back.

Mears is understood to have other options, and according to sources close to Blackpool, was distancing himself from a deal with Paul Ince’s Championship strugglers.

But with Wanderers looking to raise cash for incoming transfers this month, it appears they are putting pressure on the 30-year-old to make his choice.

“Tyrone Mears has the opportunity of going to Blackpool,” Freedman said. “We are going to heavily sponsor the deal so he can go and get some first-team action.

I honestly don't think Mears has any other clubs interested in signing him apart from Blackpool. IMO Mears is being a twat, because he knows full well we need to shift him so Dougie can bring in a player or two.

This could well backfire for Mears in the summer, he is on a free transfer and he's played fook all games in the last couple of seasons, he's reportedly on around £25K a week. He needs some game time, so he can maybe attract a club or two if he impresses whilst out on loan.

Mears could well end up on the football scrap age at a relatively young age.

He clearly doesn't give a monkey's about us so I'll have no sympathy for him if it all goes tits up.

He doesn't have to move house, he doesn't have to take a pay cut and he's pretty much guaranteed games, as Blackpool had 12 fit players on their books as of Monday.

Like I said, he's spitting his dummy out, because he knows his time at the club is up and Dougie wants rid of him sharpish!

Mears is a twat of the highest order.

I'd love to get rid of Mears to free up some cash to spend on players that actually want to play for BWFC. Seeing as he apparently just wants to sit out his contract, couldn't they constructively dismiss him?
There must be some "legal" way of doing it - perhaps Nat would know about this?
For example:
Redundancy: The organisation no longer requires that role. We could rename "right back" as "off-centre back" and tell him that the position no longer exists. He'd be entitled to a week's pay for every year he's been at the club.
Dismissal: Bringing the club into disrepute. Apart from his performances which should be enough of a case in themselves, it would surely be worthwhile drugging him and hooking him up with a donkey on the town hall steps? Zero payout.
Unfit: Get him on Statutory Sick Pay at £80 odd quid a week
Unable to do the job: - speaks for itself.

Surely the club have a crack legal team working on this day and night? Has to be the most cost-effective option.
