Lee stretchered off!

CHUNG-YONG Lee was stretchered off in his first game at the Asia Cup.

The Wanderers star was sent crashing to the floor in pain after a heavy touchline challenge from Oman defender Abdul Al Mukhaini after 77 minutes at the Canberra Stadium.

Korea coach Uli Stieilke played down talk of a serious injury after the game but initial reports from Australia suggest the 26-year-old will be ruled out of the next group game against Kuwait on Tuesday.

Chung-Yong had looked bright and was involved in the build-up to the winning goal for Cho Yong-cheol in first half stoppage time.

The Whites star – who looks set to leave the Macron Stadium and is being strongly linked with a move to Premier League Crystal Palace – played on the left side of a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Yes but if that happens he almost certainly will turn into another Holden/Mavies. It seems our injury prone players only recover when they go elsewhere like O'Brien at West Ham.

Could be- but don't put any money on it.

Glad its not too bad, for Chungy and more importantly BWFC. If he is going to leave us, which seems pretty certain, lets at least get a few quid for him.

We would sell him for about a million in January, is it really worth it?

Hard to say if this is a good thing.  On paper he should be back with us then and maybe sign a new deal?
Palace could drop the ball because of injury. Of course if he walks for nowt at the end of season that's no good either.  Catch 22 on this one.

Injured Korea star Chung-Yong Lee could be heading back to Bolton Wanderers with broken leg

Chung-Yong Lee’s situation at the Asia Cup has gone from bad to worse, with reports suggesting he could soon be on his way back to Wanderers.

The midfielder has travelled back to Korea from Australia for medical tests on an injured leg sustained in a group game against Oman on Saturday.

Korea coach Uli Stielike calmed fears of a major problem for the 26-year-old playmaker at first, words echoed by Neil Lennon at the weekend.

But Chung-Yong was absent for his country’s victory over Kuwait this morning, with news emerging prior to kick off that the problem could be more serious than first feared.

"Yes, he has a fracture in his right leg," a spokesman for the KFA said this morning. "But it's not serious, it's a hairline fracture."

No confirmation has yet been issued but initial suggestions in Australia are that he stands to miss three weeks of action, bringing to an end his involvement in the tournament and ruling out any chance of him featuring for Wanderers in their FA Cup clash with Liverpool at Anfield on January 24.

Lennon was holding out hope Korea would fail to qualify for the latter stages of the Asia Cup, making Chung-Yong available for the fourth round tie.
