Amazing. Just what we needed going tint the summer - a proper all rounder is a game changer!

Yes that's right.

We can look forward to the summer instead of dreading it.  Very Happy

Here we go again. One game and we're world beaters.
It's a good win,nothing more.

#partypooper.

One game and we're positive because so many had a good match.

Not world beaters (yet).

A general question: is it better to compete in a totally sportsmanlike way (not challenging decisions aggressively, not snarling at opponents, not over-celebrating successes, not cheating etc) as  New Zealand did yesterday in defeat.........OR be like Chelsea, win at all costs, bend the rules, win no friends, set up confrontations, behave in a way which is a poor example to youngsters?

Some sports stick to very high standards of integrity, win or lose (eg golf, snooker, darts, tennis etc), but football has lost its sense of fair play, as has cricket played the Aussie way.

This happened when I explained test cricket to my mate from San Diego many years ago - a tale I may well have reported on here. His exact words were...
"So they stand in the field for five days? And it's a tie?"

The concept of any draw baffles the Yanks. Look what they did to footie with that running at the goalie from the halfway line thing to settle matches and the rumour they wanted to widen the goalposts when they hosted the World Cup.

They play to win not to participate.

They also like to proclaim themselves 'world champions' at games only they play.
World series baseball?

Canada, Cuba, Japan, Korea and a couple of others play baseball.
Cuba are occasionally the best international team but they are excluded as it's a club comp although some of their stars appear in the World Series.

The Cricket and Rugby "World Cups" have a similar number of competitive nations TBF.

They don't compete on a regular enough basis with those countries though.
The World Series is played between teams from North America. How it's the 'world' series only they know. Tried to get to grips with baseball once, and failed miserably. You've probably got to be brought up with it.
