.....can anyone explain this to me?

I own two laptops: One Toshiba one (which I'm typing this on) and an Asus one that I haven't used for months.

I've just downloaded the Microsoft Word App for this one so that I can view Word documents on it.

It asked me to log in with my Microsoft account details, which I did.

I reckon that the last time I did that must have been on the other one (the Asus one) because when I restarted the Toshiba, it's imported the desk top from the other one.

I haven't changed any settings and it's a bit weird because the desktop background on the Toshiba is now the generic Asus background that comes pre-installed on their machines.

How has that happened?

Has my laptop achieved sentience and do I need to worry about it killing me in my sleep?

Thanks in advance.....

I have a man who sorts out my IT problems. Bit like KP but without the blowjobs.

This might help. Although you might be on W10. Might still apply though.

Cheers Boncey.

But I'm still left wondering (A) why it's done it on its own and (B) why it's imported the Asus background, because that's got cock all to do with my personalised settings - it just came pre-installed on the other laptop.

Odd....

Last time it happened to me I think it was something to do with my network settings, but I can't remember how I resolved it.
Mind you, remembering to put my pants on is a bonus these days.

Settings gone up to the cloud when creating MS Account, so when you logon with your MS account it sends the settings back down. Try logging out, rebooting and hope it goes back to how it was. Failing that, down the pub for a pint

I always use my phone, my laptop just sits there watching porn.

Can't blame it.

I've been offered a free upgrade to windows 10. Is this a scam?
Apparently fill in a form with your email address and they'll be in touch.

It's a free upgrade, but you only have a year to take it. Then you have to pay for it.

From the horse's mouth:- Windows 10 will be a free upgrade, assuming your computer runs Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1. As long as you upgrade to Windows 10 within the first year, you won’t have to pay a cent. Despite some confusion online, you won’t have to pay anything. As long as you upgrade to Windows 10 within the first year, you can continue using Windows 10 and getting updates for the “supported lifetime of the device.” It’s a full copy that will continue to work.

Been a few scams with the windows 10 installation. If you do upgrade should get a notification in the bottom right hand corner of your screen when the update is ready. Don't click anything fron an e-mail unless you are sure where it has come from and is genuine.

I have that notification in the bottom corner. So back up all my docs and do the business. Thanx for that.

Here's another one.....

I've just been looking at holidays on the Jet2 website (sorry Martin).

I didn't log in.

I didn't enter any personal details.

All I did was fill in the search bar with the departure airport, the date, the number of people and the destination.

I clicked on one of the search results and looked at the photos and that was it.

Two minutes later I received an email with my name in the title from Jet2 offering me a further discount on the price quoted for the hotel I'd just looked at.

How the hell does it know who I am?

I've never logged into the Jet2 website, nor have I ever booked with them, so where's it got my email address from?

Very odd.

Don't like it.

Glos, do us a favour and ask your mates in that big building in Cheltenham to back off and leave me alone please.

Ta.

Give me a bell mate, we're far cheaper than any tour operator, seriously you will save money, I have done a lot of comparison searches to confirm that.
