The players should now put their hands in their pockets to pay the ordinary staff.Chairmanda wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I might be being a bit hard hearted here (or should that be hear?) but did anybody really think that they would?
I'm sure any money the club can get its hands on is being prioritised to find a buyer and / or keep the taxman off their back for as long as they can.
The poor employees will be towards the bottom of a long list for paying I would think.
Bit shitty for them I know and I do feel sorry for them - particularly that it is not their fault the club is in this mess.

I might be being very naive now but if I were ED, I'd at the very least pay the non-footballing staff from my own pocket as a one off gesture, without prejudice and written off on the spot.
It's Christmas, FFS.
Guess that's why I'm not a captain of industry.
But I can sleep at night.

Not really "shocking" we don't have any money, where did he expect the payment to come from?

I agree Bread, and well said. Commitments have been made to people who work hard and have not caused the problems, and have to be kept. Even tho Magoo agrees with you, I'm not agreeing with him agreeing with you as he is a mean nasty boy (cf dinner thread).

It's just the right thing to do, isn't it?
I posted a comment on the Apprentice thread a while ago saying that whilst it certainly helps to have a ruthless streak in business, you can still do well without using it all the time.
And this just looks like one of those times.
And if nothing else, it's (another) PR gaff by the idiots running the club.

Wouldn't mind Dennis wise. Players would know whose boss if he was in charge. Managerial record not bad, better than some we've had and got it in the English league - not the toy town league of Scots Premiershipboltonbonce wrote:Then we'd get Dennis Wise.Cajunboy wrote:LENNON now second favourite with bookies for Reading job.
Obviously impressed with his record at BWFC!

Bit of a dig at the Scottish prem FOS?
Using that logic, you could say that Wise hasn't managed to galvanise a "toy town league" team to beat Barca - as Lennon did.
But I don't believe for a minute that Reading are the slightest bit interested in Lennon. The bookies are offering the odds because some mug will be daft enough to take them on the back of the crap that's been in the papers. Easy money when punters back a non-starter.

I'm feeling less proud of being a Wanderer right now too, scott. To me, paying people what they are owed is not a nice to have, its not even integrity, its the least any company should do.scottjames30 wrote:I am starting to unlove the club i once loved, what horrible people running it.

The Best thing that can happen now is have the Macron bulldozed down ( overnight ) the players all to quit, and just call it a day.

Theres now talk of a £2m VAT bill outstanding, on top of the £600k PAYE also owed to taxman...I think I might stop reading this stuff till we have something definitive
