Thought i'd do this now before anyone forgets..

Biggest game of the season against a side that will likely be in league one next year. (Hopefully we won't be joining them)

A shred of good news is severely overdrawn now for us, I think we'll set up to hit these on the counter. With Cloughs pace and M.Davies intelligence we might have enough to nick a win

1-2 away win, smiles all round and whispers of survival.

Oh and a good barney!

1-1 draw for me, but a 1-2 away win would be great .

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I reckon a 1-1 draw also. Being away from home I can't see us getting a victory but if they're prepared to stand up and fight then we should have enough not to lose. Winning the battle in midfield is key.

Thanks for starting the Rotherham thread Boggers, I have been meaning to start one for a couple of days. Smile

Due to it being Christmas I'm going for a Bolton win.

We'll get dicked. I can see 3 or 4 nil for the home side.

I'll be positive and say 3-0 to Rotherham.

Is that the sort of positive where they say "Botulism is better than Ebola so I'll have the botulism"? Very Happy

More seriously I feel this will be a tight game, but we've recently shown some stomach for the fight albeit lacked a bit of skill so I'm going to put my Santa hat on and go for a 2-1 win for the Trotters.  Laughing

It's statistically likely we'll get a win sooner or later and I hope this is the match when it finally happens. A clean sheet would be brilliant so I'm hoping there'll be no more stupid mistakes at the back and we nick it 0 - 1.

Ref watch: Geoff Eltringham to oversee Boxing Day trip to Rotherham

Geoff Eltringham will run the rule over Wanderers' trip to Rotherham United on Boxing Day.

The County Durham-based official has overseen five Whites’ fixtures in the past, all at Macron Stadium, including Bolton's 1-0 home defeat to Birmingham City earlier this season.

Mr Eltringham has officiated 20 matches so far this season, dishing out 43 yellow cards and three red cards.

Thomas Bramall and Alan Clayton will run the line, while Andy Haines is the fourth official.

Preview: Rotherham United v Bolton

SETTING THE SCENE
Bolton Wanderers travel to Rotherham United on Boxing Day in their last away match of 2015.

Still awaiting their first win on their travels so far this season, the Whites will be looking to build on their back-to-back draws with Charlton Athletic and Fulham.

However, hosts Rotherham will also be keen to maintain their recent form having won two of their last three home matches, including last weekend’s impressive victory over promotion candidates Hull City.

TEAM NEWS
Having missed last weekend’s draw with Fulham with a knee injury, Josh Vela will be assessed and could return against Rotherham.

Shola Ameobi (groin) and Wellington Silva (hamstring) are closing in on first team returns but will not be rushed back, while Emile Heskey (flu) is available.

Elsewhere, Max Clayton (hamstring) remains a long-term absentee.

LAST ROTHERHAM XI (v Hull City, W2-0)
Camp, Mattock, Broadfoot, Kelly (Buxton 45), Rawson, Hyam, Frecklington (Andreu 85), Ward, Newell, Smallwood, Ward (Clarke-Harris 81).

ONE TO WATCH
On the scoresheet in both of Rotherham’s last two home matches, Joe Newell has been in impressive form for the Millers in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old joined the club in the summer from Peterborough United following five years at London Road, having made his professional debut for the Posh against Yeovil Town in April 2011.

Also the match-winner for Rotherham in their away win over local-rivals Leeds United last month, Newell has made 20 appearances for the club so far this season.

Just looking out the window. Absolutely hammering it down, hardly any daylight.

God I wish I was going to Rotherham, said nobody with anything between their ears.

I can imagine all possibilities - we get dicked, Rotherham just about nick it, we give away a late equaliser - except us getting a win. I've never felt this little hope going into a game against such a crap team with so little prospects.

This is 100% a time to get the armchair out, forget football and get started on the new boxsets.

That's quite humorous for you Whittam. I take it you're staying at home too despite being Wanderers' best supporter.

I no longer do away games. Better things to do.

I'm watching Paul O'Grady's 'For The Love of Dogs' this afternoon.
