Nothing from the club but Iles is quite definite about the signings -

Wanderers took a giant leap towards solving their centre-half dilemma last night by securing Zat Knight’s future and agreeing a season-long loan deal for Leicester’s Matt Mills.

It is understood Knight has finally ended weeks of speculation and agreed a deal to stay at the Reebok next season on reduced terms.

And Owen Coyle also looks to have boxed clever in snapping up Foxes defender Mills for the season, with a view to making the move permanent next summer.

Norwich City entered the race late to try and poach the 25-year-old from under the Whites’ noses, but the club remain confident the transfer will be wrapped up by the end of the week.

Mills was signed for £4million just last season from Reading but was looking for a way out of the King Power Stadium after falling out with manager Nigel Pearson.

Celtic failed with a player-exchange deal a fortnight ago and reports in the Scottish press claim they were willing to try again later this month.

But while Mills was once viewed as a replacement for Knight, should he leave, he could now find himself playing alongside the 32-year-old at the heart of the Whites defence next season.

Wanderers are likely to pay a loan fee up front, with an option to pay £2m next summer when they hope to be preparing for a return to the Premier League.

The vastly-experienced Knight is looking to bounce back after a disappointing campaign.

The former Aston Villa man, who cost Wanderers £4.5m in the summer of 2009, lost his place in the side to Tim Ream in February and made just five more appearances as the club were relegated from the top flight.

But it is hoped he will rediscover his confidence in the Championship, even though he faces a battle to start against Burnley on the opening day.

David Wheater could also come into the frame into the New Year after his cruciate ligament injury has healed, leaving Coyle with enough options to see the season through.
