Frank Windsor: Z Cars actor dies at 92



Actor Frank Windsor, known for his roles in TV dramas Z Cars, Softly Softly, Casualty and Peak Practice, has died at the age of 92.

Windsor played Det Sgt John Watt in pioneering police show Z Cars in the 1960s, and its spin-off Softly Softly.

He remained a familiar face with roles in shows like Doctor Who, Flying Lady and Middlemen, and appeared as Kenneth in Casualty from 2003 - 2004.

His agent said he died peacefully at home in London on Wednesday.

When S. Sanborn, an American hatmaker, died in 1871, he left his body to science, bequeathing it to Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., (then a professor of anatomy at Harvard Medical School) and one of Holmes's colleagues. The will stipulated that two drums were to be made out of Sanborn's skin and given to a friend on the condition that every June 17 at dawn he would pound out the tune "Yankee Doodle" at Bunker Hill to commemorate the anniversary of the famous Revolutionary War battle. The rest of his body was "to be composted for a fertilizer to contribute to the growth of an American elm, to be planted in some rural thoroughfare."

I was reading about Frances Hodgson Burnett over the weekend. Born in Cheetham, Manchester. She was an author late 19th early 20th Century, famous for `the Secret Garden ` and others.
The reason I post is that I couldnt believe how many times she moved house all over the World, in those days. Travel then must have been much more of a hassle in every way.
She lived in Salford and other places near Bolton in her youth.
I love reading biographies of interesting people.

I think I was listening to radio 4 and there was a mention of her, so I researched.
I read this book at school as a kid and had no idea she was born so local.
