I can't imagine this has gone down well with Eagles and Mears.

Can't see Eagles being bothered but hopefully Mears will never play for us again.

Yes this is very good news for the club. Owen Coyle is a lovely guy, I so wanted him to succeed but other than a good 6 month spell 2 years ago he has been woeful. He really should have been sacked last season when we were on that awful run, he just couldn't turn things around. Considering Coyle so nearly kept us up again last season, who knows what a decent manager would have done for us.

A good manager will get this team promoted, I have no doubts about it. If we appoint a good manager I will be lumping on us to win the league at very good odds.

Who do you class as a good manager MB?

I feel sorry for Owen Coyle, the loss of Holden has been massive as he's our only really good player. If he'd been fit I have no doubt we'd still be in the PL and things would be totally different.

But he's made too many mistakes, the biggest being not sorting out the defence. A new contract for Zat Knight was crazy, but so has the picking of Mears every week - a choice I don't understand.

From the various news reports I have so far read, it looks as though it was Eddie Davies that ordered the sacking of Owen Coyle whilst Phil Gartside was far too reluctant to do it. Also suggesting they want a complete fresh approach - how about going for a foreign manager - we have never had one (all our managers have been from the British Isles).

Di Canio would be my choice...

we WONT employ a foreign manager though, BWFC are a bunch of racists...

Coyle was a "risk" appointment by Gartside.

He will now, IMO, go the safe route, a been there done that, defensive minded coach.

All Hail MICK M'TMCCa'thy.

Are you going to do this act until a new man is in charge? I'm bored of it already.

SHIT! affraid

this is an except from a Nixon article in the mirror...

Gartside is looking for a similar boss to Coyle, young and able to work
on a tight budget and denies approaching any managers - including former
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and out-of-work Roy Keane.

we are going to end up with some fucking cheap, unemployable (elsewhere) gobshite again aint we...

Solskjaer would be my pick or Di Canio.

How can Gartside not want to appoint a guy that does this> [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Nat, I would agree with you about Di Canio, he expects 110% from every player and will not tolerate lack of effort or poor play. We need someone who the players respect but will also demand a lot from them, Di Canio would fit that bill perfectly.

I do worry though that we will go for a cheap option, a manager who is out of work and will agree to work within a strict budget. I don't want a manager like McCarthy because he clearly can't do it in the Premiership.

Ive been saying this for a while.

However, apparently big sams contract is up at the end of the season. I would just be throwing money at him to come back if i was eddie. Do everything i could. Know it wont happen like

Agree with Natasha ..... Di canio or someone similar.

No ex Wolves clogger ..... although he will no doubt work cheap.

Let's see what type of team selection Sammy and the other bloke comes up with for next week. Maybe they will put a good team out ......same 11 ....get bout both of them after the game and put the tea lady in charge.
