My gran was also a big wrestling fan, Lusty. I used to stay over the weekend, and it was hilarious watching her agitation as her favourites battled it out. She loved Kellett, but hated Mick McManus, and wasn't backward about it.
As the wife of a docker, she provided me with a number of great words I could use later in life.

Golden Age of wrestling that. Everybody hated McManus - was it him who was attacked by some granny with her shoe when it was on telly every Saturday afternoon? Definitely a young kids and old dears fanbase. Massive Bolton connection with the Wryton Stadium hosting it a lot of the time - and the Royals of course.

Didn't Kendo Nagasaki once fight Jimmy Greaves? Or am I having one of my fuzzy days.

Do you remember Colin Joynson? He had the New Inn  on Halliwell Road for years (My Dad drank in there) and i met him a few years ago when he came into Hospital. 

I once walked past the New Inn and saw him throw a fella out of his pub while he was still sat on his stool

I do.

I've had a drink in the New Inn many a time, might even have rubbed shoulders unknowingly with your dad too!

My dad once told me that the very first time he introduced my mam to his mother was at the New Inn!
