I always envied Bert Ambrose. How did he pull her with a 42 year age difference? It surely wasn't his looks.

...turns out to be the bottom of a rusty door.

Near the end of his life, Arthur Askey had to have a leg amputated. When a friend paid him a hospital visit, Arthur showed him a letter he'd received from an agent, 'Sorry about the leg. I've got you a summer season in Treasure Island'.
When, later down the line he had to have the other leg amputated, the same agent got back in touch.
'Calm down, you've got the part!'
Couldn't keep Arthur down for long.
