So basically we are now saying if a certain player is on teh pitch then this that and the other cannot be said but if someon else is on teh pitch it can be said but if both are on the pitch one set of fans can do it but not the other.

As I say we need to find a "happy" medium but a blanket ban is no good as it would kill "normal" banter and kill the atmosphere at clubs even more until it becomes so sterile that Natasha's idea of no fans and just corporate boxes becomes the norm for the game!

In European football, it is wrong to practice racism. The person pictured making the monkey gestures at the Chelsea game against a black englishman is a white englishman. What does the practice in Holland or South Africa have to do with this particular instance? There is no conflict here.

The instance you related in Holland had nothing to do with football, so still no conflict.

The alleged comment made by the wanderers fan was 'You welsh bastard' now if that had been the other way round it would not have been seen as racist! What is happening to this world!

So you have never seen a Dutch match where Jewish and other religious/race chants are shouted at opposing fans and players - especially Ajax which is a strong Jewish background. Or when The Netherlands play Germany there is so much hatred between the two countries, fans and teams....

Or what about the Germans against Turks or Italians, and vice versa, or the Spanish against the Portugese or France.

Happens more frequently than many realise but never gets mentioned in any press or via UEFA/FIFA.

But when it comes to England we have to be careful fans and players alike.

Then look at the fines handed out by the national FA's,UEFA,FIFA compared to what happens in the UK!!!

The European connection is massive and its not just an English quirk.

That's all well and good, Chris - but time for the bottom line. Is racism wrong? Should we kick it out of football?

What is racism?



Look I was brought up in UK and been indoctrinated to not say certain words due to certain "predominantly white" pressure groups who says what words are right or wrong, and I keep to those rules. But it is different elsewhere and different words are used to describe racism.



To be fair, it is hard to kick racism out of football as football is worldwide game covering many cultures where differing cultures. Unless the game become a UK homogenous sterile sport, but do we really want that? (with that I am not saying that racism is right, it isn't, but one brand of non-cultural-style football would make the game very boring in the long run)

What more can be done? If you're caught racially abusing someone at the football you'll get punished. In this country anyway. It's impossible to stop every single person at every single game from saying something though.

I must have missed the answer despite reading all of your post, Chris. Can your answer have five words or less for each question?

I have explained that after being indoctrinated whilst being a youngster in the UK as to what is good and bad to say, that is not to say what I know as good or bad is the same as someone saying them in another country.

Racism is bad, I agree with that but its the words that are used which make me question some of it. A lot of words we are not allowed to use in the UK are commonplace across most of the rest of the world - basically we are told by select committees (which are predominantly made up of white people) as to what words are bad and what words offend. But how do these select committee's know that the words are actually bad - yet still commonplace and allowed in other countries!

Hence my question, "what is racism?"
