It just shows how managers are going from zero to hero and back again in no time.
Makes me laugh that they were all delighted with his new long contract at the time because they were good. Now that they're shit it suddenly seems like madness.

Theres more to his contact clause than that.
Its along the lines of if they sack him they due to finishing below 10th they only need to pay one year compensation, something like that.
Its actually quite a well thought out contract since anyone taking him away would have to pay for 8 years.
