Reservoir Dogs ws filmed in Belize, just before I did a 6 month posting there. The bridge you see them swim under was in the middle of town. The actors had to be dosed up to the eyeballs with anti- this, that and everything else, becasue the river was so filthy. There was a fish market on one side of the bridge, and just along, on the other side, was what the locals called 'sweetwater canal', which carried raw sewage into the river. Had a few beers in the hotel you see at the beginning (if I remember right). Hope I haven't spoiled the film for you Very Happy

Sorry RT, just had a very senior moment ! It wasn't reservoir dogs at all, and the bad things is, I cant remember what bloody film it was ! It was one of those where there is a coup in Africa, with the usual bunch of british mecenarys. Off for a lie down..Laughing

I've never liked Tarantino movies.

Pulp Fiction i rate, but otherwise i think he's trotted out* some awful films.

Tarantino is a mischievous genius. He is the video store geek who got to make his own movies. He's really pushed the boundaries of narratology, dialogue and intertextuality over the last 20 years.

I've never heard anyone describe his movies as awful. Wow.

Jackie Brown is in my top 10 list.

Just don't like him, the whole intertextuality thing just grates with me, yes we get it, you've seen exploitation movies, you've read some comics, i can see why he's well liked but when i compare him to, what i would class as other modern auteurs like David Fincher, Wong Kar Wai, Wes Anderson he's well behind, in my opinion of course.

I was finished with Tarantino after Kill Bill which IMO was horrible.

Are you thinking of The Wild Geese with Richard Burton and Roger Moore ?

I thought it was interesting that Part I and Part II were very different. I thought Part II was his weakest film, but Part I had great cinematography, the anime part was breathtaking, as was the showdown with the Crazy 88 and O-Ren Ishii in the winter garden. On the whole I thought it was a gorgeous film to look at, even if you weren't enjoying the story or dialogue.

I'm an Anime fan and i did enjoy that part of the film, but that was it. I wish the whole thing was produced in that way.

Deliverance, filmed on the outskirts of Blackburn before urban modernisation.

Best line in a movie is in Hombre when Paul Newman asks the chief baddie "How are you going to get back down that hill?" Total perfection.

Taxi driver, some day a real rain will come, and wash all the scum off the streets.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

All good, but some really obvious stuff here. The reason Hopper made the comment about Sicilians was that he knew they'd kill him quickly before he was tortured into giving away his sons location.

Bizarrely, Taxi Driver is my favourite movie and Blade Runner is my brother's, and they both got posted within a couple of minutes of each other.

For those who haven't scene it, Taxi Driver is a movie in which the anti-hero, played by Robert De Niro, gradually slips towards insanity. It is a character study of rage, alienation and loneliness.

Travis has taken Betsy on a date. He has taken her to a porno theatre, simply not realising that this is totally inappropriate. Freaked out, she leaves. Travis calls Betsy the following day to try to arrange another date. I love Scorsese for simply panning away from Travis to the empty hallway. It's the most beautiful and painful piece of cinematography I've ever seen. After the call, we hear Travis recite his latest diary entry:

The smell of the flowers only made me sicker. The headaches got worse. I think I've got stomach cancer. I shouldn't complain though. You're only as healthy as you feel. You're. Only. As. Healthy. As. You. Feel.

I've never seen the great muppets caper, but I did enjoy Bogdan's cameo appearance in the clip.
