The Mrs wants to go abroad on our first family holiday overseas... Tried looking at travel sites but I find it all very boring and tedious. Any suggestions: I need it to be as cheap as possible & family friendly. Is it worth going all inclusive. Hopefully one of our more travelled members can help make this a bit smoother

I haven't done all inclusive since I was on holiday as a kid with my mum and dad but it all depends on what kind of holiday you would like.

I feel that if you want something with less hassle where you can put your feet up and stay around the complex with your family which sounds far easier to me than dragging the kids around sight seeing then I would go for all-inclusive.

It would probably work out cheaper in the long run as all booze and food would be included as well.

I would have a look on Travelzoo and see what deals they have, I have used them a couple of times in the past!

It all depends on where you would like to go abroad as well to be honest. Smile

Not if you want to guarantee the weather! I can recommend Majorca, especially the northern Majorca, Puerto Polensa and Alcudia. Only a short flight from the UK as well. the kids will love it.

Be careful before going all inclusive as it does not really mean all inclusive, especially when it comes to drinks.
At the end of the day I have always found this a good rule to stick buy.You get what you pay for!.
If your going to Turkey go self accommodation as the exchange rate is great and food and drink works out cheap.Or maybe half board.
If your going EU where the  Euro is the currency have a look at mainland Spain all inclusive. But don't think you'll be sat at the  bar drinking Courvasier Brandy all day( that's  not included in the AI.Local beers are included and soft drinks diet Cokes etc.
Read the small print and book with a reputable company Thomsons,Thomas Cook.

I think the key to a good family holiday is the kids being happy and not bored all the time, so if your kids are young I suggest somewhere like Minorca, where you can dump your children with loads of other kids their age in the sites child entertainment 'camps', whilst you and the mrs chill by the pool all day.   The kids then have friends they can play with through out the holiday and you and your wife also can quickly get to know their parents if you want a bit of socialising for evening meals, or watching footy etc, whilst on the holiday.

If the kids are older you might want to think of a more active holiday depending on what the kids like doing sport wise.  Perhaps a Centre Park sort of thing.

The best family holiday of all - irrespective of the kids age is Disney.

Don't go to Euro Disney - it's expensive.

Go to the one in Florida.

It's amazing, everybody will love it, the weather is perfect and it's an holiday everyone will always remember it.

Hope this helps.

Euro Disney is a joke compared to the real thing in Orlando.I went in 89 to Orlando, you have got everything there,Sea World,Epcot Centre,Water Parks,Busch Gardens theme park.
I sent my girls there last year with their Grandparents as I've got a criminal Record for twatting some piss head who grabbed my wife's arse.
I don't even drink that much we had been for a meal n some student grabbed my wife's arse to be honest she could of sorted him,but I cracked him n broke his jaw in a few places.2 years I got so I'm banned from the USA.
But the girls wanted to go so we paid them to go to the one in Orlando.Euro Disney went when in Paris for a look around.Expensive and not much too it,thought I would be disappointed in comparison.

Took my girls to Minorca,  Ibiza and Majorca,  all top places when they were young and early teens.
Also Lanzarote is quite nice but a 4 hour flight time. Been to Bulgaria, shit hole,  Turkey, another shit hole and loads of places in Greece, all top drawer.
Have a look at the first three, I always thought Minorca was pretty good for variety for things for kids to do.
Cyprus is pretty good too, Paphos had a great water park 15 years ago, must be better now.
Good luck and enjoy.

Alykes is very nice on Zante but only went for the day. Laganas is where all the pissheads go, present company excepted RT.

Put Cyprus on your list of maybes. They all speak English, the weather is always brilliant and they drive on the correct side of the road.
Avoid Ayia Napa= go for the west side like Paphos.
There's plenty to do as well.
Only down side is that there are sometimes a lot of Russians with loads of money but no class.

Stayed in Paphos and I can agree with Rammy. Loads to see and do in Cyprus.

Paphos is like three different resorts, nice but rather expensive I believe now.
