I've taken this week off work for a bit of Natasha time.

I noticed one of my favourite TV characters was now the star of a film, so off I trotted to the cinema to watch Shaun The Sheep. I wish someone had told me it was half-term.

Having kicked, punched and bitten my way to the front of the queue I asked for one ticket for Shaun The Sheep. The woman behind the counter asked me how many children's tickets I wanted, to which I replied I was alone.

By the look on her face you'd have thought I'd just asked her to remove her clothes and touch herself. She clearly had me down as some sort of peedo.

Why can't a single woman go to the cinema alone and watch Shaun The Sheep? What is dodgy about that? Shaun is a comedy genius. Why did people around me move seats when they realised I was alone? Are people so threatened by my self confidence?

Do you think people who go alone to the cinema/restaurant/swing party are sad and a bit weird or do you admire their confidence?

Some woman from Mexico went watching that 50 shades and she got arrested as she was caught masturbaiting and making loud noises.

Maybe they thought you was all alone on the back row for the same reason.

Funnily enough, I had a very similar experience last night.

(But unlike your tale, mine actually happened.)

Being fed up of existing on Cuppa Soups and sandwiches stolen off the production line in the factory, I decided to treat myself to some proper hot food.

So I stopped off on the way back to the hotel at a gastro pub that looked nice and went in to check it out.

And when I said I'd be dining alone, the 12 year old girl taking bookings looked at me like I was Gary Glitter wearing an "I love Jimmy Savile" tee shirt.

What's wrong with a middle-aged man eating on his own in a restaurant?

Next time I'm going to take Barry from Solihull who lives in room 102 for company, that way there won't be any funny looks.

Hopefully.......

Once again you take a perfectly innocent thread down the gay sex road.

Mine happened. Ask me anything about the film.

Although I nipped to the toilets about halfway through and missed 5 minutes of the film.

I suspect that you were looked at askance because of the way that you "kicked, punched and bit" your way to the front of the queue......which rather rules out any suspicions of paedo behaviour.
Still a fair chance of your being reported to Social Services, however.

Baz can't be gay because he told me that he'd recently married his "life partner" Stevie.

I said "Oh, like Stevie Nicks?" and he smiled and said "Er, yeah......a bit like that."

It was while we were splitting a large bottle of Babycham in the hotel sauna.

He's a nice bloke, Baz. I'd been complaining that my thighs were aching after a hard day walking round the factory shouting at Polish people, so he offered to give me a rub down.

It was smashing and I told him he was very good at it.

He laughed and said it was probably all the practice he's had because him and Ste (must be a pet name for his wife) rub each other quite a lot.

Top bloke.

Next week we're going swimming together. He said there's a "bath house" he knows in Chesterfield that's dead good. (Must be what they call leisure centres down there.)

Can't wait!

I do relate to Nat here. Doing 'social' things alone such as pubs, restaurants, or other things like the cinema, holidays, even walks in the countryside, people do seem to look at people alone and think they are some sort of weirdo. I remember going to the casino alone as I wanted to play in the poker tournament and I felt very self aware and out of place for being alone. I would never go to a restaurant alone, asking for a table for one just feels so wrong. And again, the cinema, it is a social thing, people go with family or friends, when you are alone you just feel so out of place.
Hats off to you for going though Nat.

I was introduced to Shaun the Sheep via youtube having 'purchased' it on Google Play for free. I doubt I am the target audience.
