Jesus Martin we've not even kicked off yet and you're on his back already.

We've lost twice in the last ELEVEN games and one of those we lost was against Wolves who are the best team in the league by a country mile.

He's done that with a team that clearly wasn't finalised when we fell foul of the tightened restrictions by the Football League and it was only when Anderson finally saw off Holdsworth and sorted out his BluMarble mess that he was able to bring in any midfield defence at all!  If Spearing hadn't been a greedy fuck we'd probably not be in such a mess in the first place!

It's no coincidence that we went on that run when we finally signed Henry to get a bit of bite in midfield.

Yes he's had to play catch up since then and that's why he's clung on to points rather than play confidently for wins.

Until we can strengthen the team in January (and allow the new players to bed in) we will just be doing the same as for the last three months - concentrate in staying in this league.

It's not rocket since ffs - even if you don't like it.

I have a sneaking feeling that Brum will beat QPR today. Not a complete disaster in itself as it would be useful if QPR get dragged into the relegation battle, but it's important that we win and ideally by a greater margin than Brum. Sunderland have a chance against Fulham too. Cattermole is suspended and they've gone for James Vaughn so it will be a very attacking line up for their home tie.
If we can win today by a decent margin we should stay out of the bottom three and close the gap on several teams above us, especially if Brentford and Cardiff win. Anything less and I suspect we'll be back in the bottom three. Parky needs to go for it today.

Report: Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Burton Albion

Bolton Wanderers’ five-match unbeaten run at Macron Stadium came to a disappointing end when Lloyd Dyer’s first half volley gave Burton Albion all three points on Saturday afternoon

Wanderers were unable to find a way past Stephen Bywater in the Burton goal as they created enough chances to win the contest.

Team News:

Stephen Darby was named in the starting XI at the expense of Mark Little, who missed out with a back injury. Otherwise it was the same side that narrowly lost out to Nottingham Forest a week earlier as Phil Parkinson’s men aimed to fortify their unbeaten record on home soil.

First Half

Wanderers could have got themselves in front with barely a minute on the clock when Stephen Bywater was pressed into action to parry away a curling right footer from the in-form Will Buckley.

The home side seemed intent on getting their noses in front as soon as they could and Gary Madine was thwarted by a great tackle just as he was shaping up to shoot after a superb breakaway from Sammy Ameobi.

At the other end, Ben Alnwick had to be alert to keep out a Marvin Sordell header after Lloyd Dyer managed to squeeze in a decent cross from the far side.

But Wanderers responded positively and a superb overlapping run and cross into the box from Darby culminated in Karl Henry miss-hitting the ball.

Wanderers were controlling possession during the early exchanges with the visitors struggling to get to grips with the pace of the game.

Bywater kept out Buckley once again on 18 minutes when the Wanderers wideman latched onto to a loose ball which was comfortably gathered by the Brewers’ gloveman.

The visitors, though, showed they were more than capable of causing their own threats and Wanderers were grateful to Alnwick for keeping out a powerful drive from Dyer at the near post.

Nigel Clough’s men were getting more into the game and Wanderers didn’t display the energy they had shown earlier on.

Indeed, they got their noses in front completely out of the blue when Dyer unleashed an unstoppable left-footed volley that gave Alnwick no chance.

Chances didn’t come as freely as they did early in the game for Wanderers but Ameobi looked to be the most likely man in a white shirt to get the game back on an even footing for the hosts.

On 38 minutes he came in with his left foot and shaped up to get in a trademark strike only for Bywater to be alert to the threat.

Second Half

Just as they started the game, Wanderers could have earned an equaliser within minutes of the restart. David Wheater was presented with a glorious chance to qualise when his header from a corner was somehow kept out by a scrambling Burton defence. The ball was still loose and again the visitors stoically defended to keep the follow up out.

The Wanderers boss made his first change just before the hour mark with Filipe Morais coming on for captain Darren Pratley.

Ameobi was inches after from a spectacular goal after playing a splendid one-two with Madine and drifting his left footer narrowly wide.

This was better from Wanderers but they still had plenty to do if they were to get back into the game and take the points.

Wanderers made another attacking substitution on 75 minutes with Craig Noone coming on for Darby.

Again, Bywater was the thorn in Ameobi’s side after the keeper got down low to keep out the striker’s drive.

With the minutes running out, Parkinson made his final substitution of the afternoon with Aaron Wilbraham coming on for Henry.

But despite Bolton's best efforts, they couldn't break the Brewers' rearguard and fell to defeat come the final whistle.

Worst of all worlds today bar Brum conceding at the death to drag us off the bottom. Not the ideal preparation for the Cardiff game, so it will be interesting to see what Parky and Anderson make of that.
Can't afford to replace the manager and I doubt Anderson would get rid of his tame mouthpiece anyway, so it's going to be a fascinating - if depressing - week.

We are destined to be a League One team.  Parky is not the man to sort this group out.

Parky is well out of his depth.

At the end of the day, he really is a League 1 manager at best.

Brum are playing Sunderland next week so we will definitely need something from the Cardiff game - and we have tough away trips to Boro and Sheff U immediately after that.
In fact, apart from the Hull game, we don't play another team currently in the bottom half of the table until 10th February so big changes are needed.

We are getting nothing out of the Cardiff game.

We'll be long gone by 10th February.

There is no way back from this.

A win today and we would have had a chance of survival.

The January transfer window will be too late for us, even if we could strengthen the team with a couple of free transfers.

But then you should never make predictions  30 minutes after being beaten at home by the bottom club in the division.

There is always hope, but that is the JD talking.

Enjoy Strictly.

Spot on if Parkinson keeps his job, change now and we may just have enough to stay up.

We were almost at full strength today and I'd say 4 or 5 of our best team belong in Div 3 with Parky too. It's difficult to carry so many.

I'm sure Allardyce would find a way to keep our shite up but unfortunately Ken won't pay for either a quality manager or better players. We aren't doomed this season, its not impossible to finish above Burton, Birmingham and Barnsley,  but if we stay up so what? It'll be the same old shite again next season. The future of the club is not bright

I can't wait to read what KA will write this week.  Team can't put away the bottom dwellers at the Macron.  Shut out in 10 of 22 matches (yeah, we need another winger!)... and now we are looking at a 32 point season.  Losing to the bottom sure will inspire 20k to show up... and now we have a tough run.  Parky didn't do the job needed in the past 4 games, and relegation is a real possibility.  Who could KA possibly afford in January who could turn our season around?

I reckon that guy at Luton could do a great job further up the league ladder, anybody could do a better job than Parkinson is at the moment, look at Sunderland couldn't buy a win so they sack their manager and now looking good, I'm not having it that the squad is poor as it's not, it's a squad more than capable of a mid-table finish but being led by an incompetent fool.

I didn't go today so probably shouldn't comment, but I still think he is doing ok with what is most definitely one of the worst squads in my lifetime.

Gary Madine is our player of the season so far who can't hit a barn door. Just have a think about that for a minute. I'd say there's only Vela, who is about to be sold, and Wheater, who are good enough for this division.

I think only a really top class manager could get this bunch further up the league.
