Didn't he get subbed and the guy who came on for him scored the 2 goals that beat us? Maybe we should be looking at that bloke?

Scott McDonald?

I'm Glad you aren't the manager

Better finisher than Emnes

Says who?

His record, and whenever I've seen Mcdonald for Boro or Celtic compared to Emnes. I'd take Mcdonald over Emnes, but I reckon there's better than both out there.

How many goals did he score last season just out of interest?

5 goals in 10 games.

That'll do for me.

I'm hoping whoever we sign plays more than 10 games and scores more than 5 goals next season tbh.

A bit hit and miss (he's Dutch after all, probably sulky) but some of the games that I've seen him in he's been brilliant.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman is believed to have gone cool on a move for Marvin Emnes.

The Scottish manager has long admired Boro’s Dutch playmaker, who endured a campaign to forget last season.

Freedman recently hinted to Reebok insiders that he would table a serious offer for Emnes once the club had completed their fixtures.

But he’s since had a change of heart and has now turned to new targets as he begins rebuilding the Bolton squad for the 2013/14 season.

Tony Mowbray hasn’t completely given up on Emnes and still believes he can be a potent threat next season.

But, by the same token, Boro would, in all likelihood, sell the 25-year-old if they receive a credible offer.

Last summer, the club turned down a £5m bid from Swansea for Emnes, believing he had the craft and goalscoring ability to help lift Boro back into the Premier League.

Unfortunately, he failed to recapture the form that saw him score 18 goals in 2011/12.

Playmaker? I don't think so.
Everyone is crying out for an out and out goal scorer, but unless we play a system that creates plenty of clear cut chances AND remain solid defensively it doesn't matter who is playing. Sordell or Ngog could get 20+ a season if they were playing for Manure. Emnes scored loads when Boro were playing attacking football but IMO he was a goalhanger. Soon as you ask him to do any work his strike rate plummets as is does with our boys.
Last season we made loads of half chances but for the most part, we weren't getting behind defences and ended up shooting from distance - hence our low conversion rate. Lee in particular kept cutting inside rather than going past the defender which is OK but it meant the defence was still between him and the goal.
Still think we need to get the midfield and defence sorted as a priority and we'll be fine.
