I don't pay attention to music like I used too in the 90's, but I can't imagine the alternative scene is as vibrant as it was then.

 Trust me Hipster there are loads of great new bands out there, have a look at a site called anydecentmusic, it pools all the reviews together and gives an average score. You can listen to songs from the albums on the website or thye have their own spotify playlist.

the Britsh stuff wasn't always the best but there were a few good British acts like Ruthless Rap Assassins and the early Stereo MC's albums were great, but you're right the American stuff was always better. I still listen to a lot of old school stuff now like Mantronix and Eric B & Rakim

Agree with that Bread, strictly business and unfinished business are two great albums. Have you listened to any Main Source?

agree Breaders, had that on tape years ago so need to dig it our or download it again. I used to love Gangstarr and Ice Cube as well. Then it all went bitches and hoes and i lost interest until recently when i heard Ratking.

I hate how disjointed most of the songs in the charts are.

It's like you can make a crap song into a number one, just by throwing a catchy, completely out of place beat somewhere in the middle.

The last piece of "modern" music I bought was the Daft Punk album.

And they've been together for twenty years and I only bought it on the back of hearing Get Lucky which is basically Nile Rogers doing what he's done since the mid 70's.
