Club statement

Bolton Wanderers Football Club can today, Monday 30 November, confirm that the first team playing squad are yet to receive their wages for the month of November.
 
This is due to the ongoing situation surrounding the club's ownership off the field.
 
Trevor Birch, recently appointed as adviser to the Bolton Wanderers board and owner, said: "This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and  I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them."

None of the "big earners" got paid.

And as has already been pointed out by Manda and Sluffy, if a player doesn't receive his monthly remuneration in line with his agreed contractual obligations, he is free to declare himself a free agent and walk away.

i said this on another thread. good old Eddie is shafting us good and proper at the moment. We aren't a plaything he can just throw away when he's had enough. He needs to step up and pay the bills until a takeover actually happens.
It's all well and good him being lauded for writing off the debt when we sell, but at the moment he is letting our club down immensely.

If we don't pay them for December as well then every player becomes a free agent and can walk for nothing. Personally I think we're going into admin, possibly as early as the 1st of January. I doubt we'll avoid it now. Will we get out of it? Yes probably but with a vastly reduced club and vastly reduced chances of climbing back up. Just look at Portsmouth and Leeds to see the likely future of BWFC

Bolton Wanderers players given no guarantees over pay - but PFA chief insists a solution is "achievable"

Wanderers’ players have been assured every effort is being made to remedy the financial crisis at the club.

Senior squad members were called to a meeting at Euxton yesterday morning for a briefing by Trevor Birch, followed by a consultation with Gordon Taylor and other members of PFA staff, following on from the news the club failed to pay their wages for football staff last month.

The Bolton News understands no guarantees have been given to Neil Lennon’s squad about when they will be given last month’s pay – but that assurances have been made the situation is unlikely to run to the longer term.

Coaching staff, including the manager, fall under the same pay rota as internal staff and were paid on the 20th of the month. But the problem with funding appears to have cropped up in the 10 days between then and the 30th, when football staff salary was due.

PFA chief and former Wanderer Taylor has assured the squad of the union’s full backing and is hopeful a solution can be found.

“We were there to assure the players of our support and trying to keep morale high in what is a trying time,” he said. “We will do everything we can to ensure the club does not go into administration but for that to happen there needs to be a proper plan in place, long and short term, and people need to know where they stand.

“We will help however we can. Although we are fully aware of the seriousness of the situation we are hopeful a solution will be found quickly. I think it is achievable provided certain things fall into place.”

Wanderers looked to ramp up the pressure on those interested in buying the club yesterday by casting doubt on their credentials to complete a deal.

A statement released by insolvency specialist Birch, who is working on behalf of the board in the sale of the club, questioned whether existing bids had the “requisite elements” needed to conclude a takeover.

That message was met with some bemusement from sources who have been in the thick of talks over the last few weeks – with one interested party suggesting the Wanderers hierarchy were “playing games” at such a crucial stage of the discussions.

Crisis? What crisis - at least 4 interested parties. All get together and form one takeover bid and we will have more than enough cash

We can't even manage to get two (let alone four!) BWFC footy forums to get together let alone a number of business wanting to pump in millions of pounds to the club.

I doubt Trevor Birch is "playing games" of any kind given how bad the situation is. If he says the bids haven't been concrete enough then they haven't and the bidders suggesting otherwise are blowing smoke imo. What the requirements are for a deal to be made I do not know but I imagine the people claiming to be interested have been told and it's up to them to either meet those requirements or get out of the way and stop wasting everyone's time. Personally I'm becoming more and more certain that we will enter admin on or about 1st January if not sooner because if the players don't get paid for december as well as last month by the 30th december they become free agents automatically at which point they cease to be assets of the club with a re-sale value. No matter how low that value may be there is no way the club can risk losing it now,

I'd be delighted to see every "first team" player laid off ASAP.

If they have any sense they probably should agree to it. If they leave the club who the fuck will want any of these shitbags? If they hold out and we get taken over they get to see out their contract and earn a wage, something they won't do if they walk out.
