Len Tobutt's for me.

Even now, if I shut my eyes and think back I can still smell it.

New, fresh football boots (black, not pink or neon blue) and whatever they used to treat proper cotton fronted batting pads with.

Nowadays they're all plastic coated and smell accordingly but back then, cricket pads (Slazenger and Gray Nicholls) had a certain smell and it was a mix of cotton and moth balls.

Have we done this before on here.......? I fear we have.

Far too much snobbery about who lives where and what they've got.

It's who you are that counts, not what you've got.

I feel the same way about Little Lever.

Mixed emotions about Little Lever for me.

The first Mrs B hailed from "The Village" and she turned to be the devil incarnate in a frock.

And it's kind of tainted my view of the place ever since.

In fact, I have my suspicions that I was once actually married to Whittam.....

That did cross my mind when I read you married a Little Lever lass, but thought better of it when you mentioned it was actually a Woman.

All of these places have good and bad areas so it just depends on which bits you have experienced....

Personally I think Little Lever is the nicest of the lot, it has several decent areas and even the council house estates are tame compared to say the areas up near Withins in Breightmet or Mancroft Avenue near Deane.

Farnworth has some quiet spots and some rougher bits too but again its so called rougher sections arent as scary as the deepest darkest parts of Johnson fold.

Well, it felt like she'd fucked me right up the arse after she embarked upon a relationship with somebody else as I was grafting my tits off to provide a better life for her and her kids but she still got the house and the car after the divorce so I suspect that she may well have a penis.

A fucking massive one.

One I could only dream of wielding in fact, because it was obviously so powerful......

Not bitter........

How are Summerseat and Holcombe Brook these days? I gather Summerseat was badly affected by the winter floods. I grew up there, loved it....but never went into Bury, always Bolton where all my friends were. Can we count the two of them as outskirts of Bolton?

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I was working in Blackburn again yesterday afternoon and I'd take any area of Bolton over that shithole. Must be thoroughly depressing for anyone who lives there to step outside their front door. Made where I live in Little Hulton look like Beverly Hills.

Just been another shooting in Little Hulton about an hour ago.

Right outside the in-laws house.

Drive by apparently.

Hope it's not shaken them up too much Bread.

Seems to be a disturbingly common occurrence down there these days.

I was actually finishing off varnishing the new patio furniture at the time, guv.

Yeah, that's how Rock 'n' Roll my Saturday nights are now.......

All joking apart though, Mrs B's Mum's a bit shaken up by it. (Cheers Boncey.)

50 years they've lived there and it's always been quiet in the past.

The word is it's something to do with the Paul Massey fallout.

When we lived there it was pretty quiet. They even closed the cop shop.

We left in 1989,and things were kicking off a bit even then. It's a shame, because I know a lot of great people in LH.

I feel sorry for Mrs B's parents because they're good people and they deserve better than having to worry about teenage gangster wannabees trying to make a name for themselves by popping off random pot shots outside their house.

Seems to be happening everywhere. We live about a mile from the spot Garry Newlove was beaten to death. A nice area by day,but it takes on another persona at night.

Bolton and surrounding areas are getting like the Wild West to be honest.

We could do with bringing the national service back for youngsters, it may help in teaching them respect etc.
