Wanderers striker Dion Charles is joint-ninth in the bookies’ early odds to win the League One Golden Boot this season.

The Northern Ireland international is preparing for his first full campaign with the Whites after joining from Accrington Stanley back in January.

The 26-year-old hit the ground running at the UniBol, scoring six goals in his first 11 matches for the club.

He also bagged a brace in a 4-2 win against Fleetwood on the final day including a remarkable effort when his sliding tackle on Callum Camps near the halfway line looped over Alex Cairns and bounced into the empty net.

Charles is priced at 20/1 to finish as the top scorer in the division this season, according to SkyBet’s latest odds.

Peterborough forward Jonson Clarke-Harris is the current favourite at 7/1, while Sheffield Wednesday’s Michael Smith (10/1) and Oxford’s Matty Taylor (11/1) also rank highly.

Meanwhile, Dapo Afolayan is priced at 33/1 after finishing as the Whites’ top scorer last season with 14 goals in all competitions.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson also makes the list at 50/1 after finding the net seven times during the second half of last term.

Amadou Bakayoko finished with 13 goals in his first season at Bolton, and the former Coventry man is priced at 100/1 for the upcoming campaign.

Ian Evatt's men scored 74 goals in their first season back in League One - a total only six clubs across the division could better.

Surely they meant 9th favourite to be Bolton's leading scorer?
