It's either nuclear power or revert to the dark ages I'm afraid.

Wind power simply isn't viable to power a whole world. Although if someone finds a way of turning the wind that comes out of Wanderlust's mouth into energy we may have a future.

More to renewable than wind power. I suggest you follow my lead and do some research.  study

It bores me quite frankly. I have little doubt the human race will be all but extinct in 75-100 years. You were warned.

.

You are right unless Governments start to stand up and be counted, or half the world's population is wiped out. The big oil and nuclear companies bought the intellectual property for competing energy technologies and starved them of development money (approximately 1/10th of nuclear development budget I heard), so of course there is no viable alternative ATM. If other energy technologies had received proper investment they would be far more efficient and viable then nuclear by now.

When fossil fuels come to an end suddenly the likes of Shell and EDF will emerge as the green heroes as they own the most advanced wind, wave, solar and hydrogen technologies and have all the drilling gear and fracking experience to control geothermal.

In the meantime, they will continue to use their immense wealth, political and legal clout to ensure that alternatives are locked down and can't compete.

A week later I read that Nirex had turned back a truck of used rods because the railway track was broken and the carriage had reached the maximum time it could be left exposed - around the time that  me, the kids and a bunch of Swedish tourists were driving past in the tour coach.

Nuclear safe my arse. They were absolutely winging it from the Elf & Safety perspective and anti-terrorist security was a joke. It's just a big f***** bomb waiting to go off in the Lake District. Worst of all, the supposed safety monitors - the "experts" - are complicit and clearly flaunt the rules for pragmatic reasons.

Wouldn't worry though. The worst of the radioactive fallout shouldn't get much further than Preston if the wind's in the right direction.
Isn't there a nuclear plant at Preston?
I think the closest Nuclear power plant is Heysham.
Fuel rods are made at Springfields works in Clifton, Preston.

The start of the fall of ukip......

http://www.burytimes.co.uk/news/11622721.Former_Bury_UKIP_chairman_jailed_for_child_porn_offences/

UKIP chairman is a paedophile (and look who tried to use that stance against Labour in recent lections - yes UKIP)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ukip/11249773/Ukip-is-to-politics-what-Aldi-and-Lidl-are-to-supermarkets.html

Comparing UKIP to German conglomerate corporate companies who are out to fleece people rather than on a social level!

Yes, because one UKIP politician is a peedo means they all are Rolling Eyes

Stop trying to slander this great party. You probably have a Polish maid who thinks noshing on your willy is part of her duties. Scared to lose her?

Yes this is ridiculous BUT it has nothing to do with the EU. It is because we have signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights as have 46 other countries including such havens of freedom as Turkey, Hungary, Russia and Azerbaijan.

I agree. Since when do Somalian pirates come under the EU umbrella. Somalia isn't part of the EU so any offences they commit on the high seas off Africa should not mean that they should be treated as EU citizens.

Agreed, this has NOTHING to do the EU - especially as ECHR was set up by Winston Churchill after WWII and expended more recently to include Human Rights legislation brought about by the United Nations!
