You do have an issue with one of the steering group and it may not be hatred but it;s not far off is it Sluffy? And for the record i have said the same to you on quite a few occasions before so don't come across all wounded

Jesus mate, the time I begin to hate anyone on the internet is the time I will pack forums in.

Maybe it is because I was about long before the age of social media but I simply could not give a fuck over anything that is said by some bloke on the internet who I don't know, ever met, nor ever likely to meet!

Sticks and stones may very well break my bones but no words on an internet forum have ever hurt me.

FFS it isn't even as though it is that important.

The ST hasn't even been constituted yet, the club is owned by Holdsworth and must be at least financially viable in the short term and the Steering Group (or at least some of them) are clearly in it for their own benefit or why else will they be standing for elections to the ST AND behaving as they have whilst their only mandate was to simply arrange the initial elections.

It's not rocket science really.
Sluffy i haven't insulted you in any post and it's common knowledge you have an issue with the fella who tried to link this site to a porn site.

Not sure what you are getting at to be honest

I'm not saying you have Norpig but plenty of others have in the past and no doubt plenty more will in the future.

What I am saying is that I don't get worked up about it and I certainly don't 'hate' anyone for doing it. In fact I probably more pity them as either they sad enough to get angry over words on the ether or they are sad enough to try and wind somebody on the internet up for their own amusement both of which I find a bit pathetic - it is only words on a small internet footy forum that amount to nothing much anyway so why get so upset or go to all that bother?

Yes, Mike Smith of the Steering Group did go out of his way to fuck Nuts up and did actually buy a similar sounding link to Nuts and direct it to a gay porn site to try and stop us because he had a previous internet spat with me. I don't actually 'hate' him because of it though.

I did however think it important enough for others to know what sort of person he actually is though (it's one thing calling people names on the internet it is entirely a more serious thing when someone actually physically does something about it though like he did) as the face of the ST in the beginning.

Hope that explains things better.

Not sure about you statement about elections being required for the ST to exist in Law?

My understanding is that it is now a registered with the relevant authorities FCA etc and as such exists as a legal entity, however it is a rather minor point over which we are splitting hairs. You say the ST/Steering Group are acting unconstitutionally and given there is no constitution I completely agree, however my point is still that they have two options; keep silent and be criticised or speak up and be criticised.

On Iles and Manning, it's good to see people who are in favour of The ST question it's actions that should be part of what an ST is about, I myself have questioned actions in the past, however I don't recall you looking on anything done by the ST/steering group in a favourable way?

That maybe because all they are mandated to do is the set up the initial elections for the ST and anything other than that they should be avoiding getting involved in.

It seems clear to me at least they have been used by Birch and as such have pissed off Holdsworth and have therefore by their own needless actions severely disadvantaged the ST in its stated prime aim of seeking the maximum involvement with the club owners, even before the ST has even had time to be constituted - and that takes some doing!

If they had just got on with what they were tasked to do I'm sure the ST would have started on more congenial terms with Holdsworth as the club owner and may even have had a little influence over them.  Clearly that is never going to happen now.

I therefore can't find much if anything to praise about the Steering Group so far.

I believe that to be fair comment.

That is my opinion anyway.

It's a fair speculation to make, but that's all it is.

So I have just completed my survey, thanks to Bonce for reminding me on another thread, however as I read through the survey I was shocked by the questions, how they where put together and what I saw as a clear bias in relation to seeking short term investment from fans to invest in the club and seek appointments to the board.

There where two separate questions one asking how much cash you would be willing to invest today, and one how much you would be willing to invest if given 6 months to save, hardly long term and forward looking.

A separate question asked about how the ST should engage with new owners, however the options available were simplistic at best and to me indicated that very little thought had been put into this.

Finally a question on how the ST should spend any money raised focussed on investing in player wages, sponsoring academy player or investing in infrastructure. Nothing about improving supporters experience or encouraging younger fans to support the club and building the fan base, something I think will be very important to the club in years to come.

Hope they get their blinkers off and start to see a bigger picture soon.

I was a bit surprised at the questions too Fab. They won't be getting much out of me.

Firstly Birch had no business asking the Supporter's Trust to bid at all. At that time (in fact even now) there is no Supporter's Trust, only a Steering Committee whose sole mandate is to arrange elections for the formation of the said Trust. In both law and fact they have no rights beyond that single task because they have not been elected or instructed by their membership to pursue such an option. At that point the Steering Committee should have been well aware of this legal reality and politely declined Mr Birch's request on those grounds.

Second, the fact they did not do so shows at best questionable judgement, particularly for a group that claims to have business expertise and at least one Chartered Accountant in its ranks. The entire Committee must see how it proved itself to be at least naive and at worst a pawn with their actions.

As to the involvement of Eddie Davis I can't help but think there is a lot more to come out in the wash here. Not just because of who some of the steering committee are and their previous links to him but also because I fear he's still pulling strings and still attempting to dictate the future course of the club through them. I can't see SS being involved for more than a couple of years before they decide they aren't ever going to make a profit at which time they will sell to cut their losses. I suspect (I don't know or pretend to know) that Eddie's thinking he'll be able to buy the club back either directly or via the ST for a song.
I'm not involved in this trust in anyway. Just a minor point.

Would you have rather seen the club go bust and out of business altogether and the trust do nothing about it, as they were still preparing the admin functions of the trust.

Thought the reason Birch asked the Trust to get involved was merely to act as a safety net had no one individual come up with the funds. Trusts have special rights these days in that situation. As far as I was aware trust steering committee was just acting in best interests of the supporters. We were very close to having no BWFC at all

I'm not sure why after all this time you have chosen to respond to Peter's post but it was clear that the club was never going to go bust or go out of business altogether - Davies had already submitted the papers for entering Administration as his Plan B should the brinksmanship and ultimate sale to Holdsworth not be executed prior to the final court hearing.

In fact it is almost unheard of even after the multitude of times multiple English league clubs have been on the brink of extinction have in fact gone bust.  I think Maidstone United was the only one to have done so since Accrington Stanley did so over 50 years ago.

As for the ST do you truly think a bunch of strangers could come together and in literally a few weeks raise (iirc) £7 million off a bunch of rich businesses and individuals to plough into a business which had let it become publically known that it was losing £1 million per month?  Remember also the people who were asking for this money didn't even have a bank account to their name at the time!

Where were these 'angels' and their £7 million when there was the crowd funding attempt to raise money for the clubs staff who nearly didn't have their wages paid just before Christmas?

It has all been covered in some detail in this thread and others at the time of the lead up to the clubs sale.

But you knew that already.
