Nick Clegg was in the press the other day saying how the government knew cutting benefits achieved nothing economically, but they knew it was a popular vote winner so ploughed ahead anyway.

True. Especially, as politics are now taught as a career, from school age. I feel the emphasis is no longer on serving the country, but more like serving your own agenda. 
I know there are still genuine people trying to do their best, but the system is no longer geared up for them.
