Tell your boss to hire another scarecrow.

Actually, you're not far wrong. As far as my dress sense goes.

They can't do that.

People don't get made redundant, roles do.

So if his work still needs doing, his role patently wasn't redundant.

Tell 'em to fuck off and tell your mate to go and see an employment lawyer.

Sadly,it was voluntary. They asked him to go,and he decided he'd had enough of them,so he took his redundancy money and left.
He's past retirement age,his mortgage is paid off,and he has two decent private pensions,so he's not too bothered.

Fair enough but they still can't fold his workload in with yours.

Not without 90 days' statutory notice to you of impending fundamental changes to your terms & conditions.

And if they don't make adequate provision to recompense you for the extra workload, you can still reject their terms and tell 'em to fuck of.

It might be a bit tricky if it's deemed "critical to the business' viability" but they can't just save his wage and lump his shit on you.

Seriously, I'd go and see someone professional.

These guys don't seem to know what they're doing.
One of our lads quit one afternoon before Christmas, dropped dead from a massive heart attack the same night, and five weeks later they were still paying him. Ructions over that.
To make it worse, the guy who took his place noticed, after being on the job five weeks, that his pay hadn't gone into his bank.
He phoned head office, only to be told that they had no record of his employment. More ructions.
They lurch from one shambles to another. No one is perfect, but I'd gladly settle for competent.

I've just fallen off my office chair, and I'm afraid it's beyond repair. Looks like another visit to amazon is on the cards.
Luckily,I came out of it unscathed.
Not sure if I should go for a cheap and cheerful chair,or splash out.

Try to be serious, and this is what you get. Very Happy

When my new chair arrives,I'll be giving it a thorough examination. :cop:

New chair arrived today. Speedy service from amazon.

Instructions said it would take one man 30 minutes to put it together.

It took me 90,although this included a ten minute break, during which I checked out the feasibility of bean bags.

More fun on the job front. After asking my mate to take voluntary redundancy,my bosses have suddenly realized they have no cover when I take a week off in July.
They've been begging people to cover,to no avail.
I'm loving it. The area manager and his chums are coming down again tomorrow, and I've warned him that production of a whiteboard will result in me shoving it up his arse.
They have to take it. I have friends at the very top.

Cheers bonce.  They are right to do it.  And people need to realise it is for their own health why they are doing it.  They dont realise it now but in 20/30 years when the stannah is being installed they will realise.

The alternatives that the article talks about is air fed equipment (hoods and visors that dont rely on a seal, they have enough clean air passing over the head and face which creative positive pressure and push out any contaminants) are 600 quid +.

If someone wants to moan about human rights in having a beard then they should have to fork out the 600-800 quid themselves.  Religious/fashion/lazy whatever.
