HomeCorona virus can piss off now! Was meant to be going to a Dave Haslam club night on Saturday but its been cancelled. If they start cancelling all the gigs i have tickets for (which i know they will do) then i'm going to be very pissed off.

Phrase of the day? "Collegiate approach". It roughly means a co-operative attitude and shared responsibility.
4 times I've heard it used on the radio this morning, first of all when Radio 5 Live's wake up to money programme had that guy from Money Supermarket telling everyone who was phoning in to ask if they could their money back for holidays/flights/Sky Sports subscriptions etc that now was not the time to make demands, but the time when we should be very understanding about the situation travel companies etc are in.
Telling folk to suck it up came across as a bit rich coming from the guy who made his fortune helping people to fight back against profiteering businesses I thought.
Then we had a string of experts questioning the Government's coronavirus strategy over on Radio 4 and up pops some guy suggesting that they shouldn't question the Government and take a "collegiate approach" - the clear implication being that the message is more important than the reality. Bloke had a mini meltdown when some senior medico asked why the Government don't just tell the truth and publish their own modelling in full - which will say it will last for x years and y people will die and the real cost will be z.
"Of course the Government will be open and honest - it's just that people don't need to know that kind of information".
"Collegiate approach" - the new terminology for just getting on with it without asking too many questions and accepting what we are told at face value - straight out of Orwell IMO.

My local Tesco had to close this morning for 15 minutes due to overcrowding and it is absolutely massive! I've come to the conclusion that people are just sheep and idiots

I should write a book about the Russell Club (Caribbean Club) in the 70s before Wilson and Erasmus bought it and forced all the locals to relocate to the Big Western, the Nile/Reno's and the social club at the bottom of Moss Lane East. Factory was OK for seeing bands (Iggy, SLF etc) but never was the same as the spectacle of the old Russell (gut-wrenching dub, mud wrestling and Alistair Crowley play). Fwiw my eldest brother is over seventy and has ongoing medical issues which puts him in the highest risk category, so I've got a very personal interest in all that is ongoing and have previously posted twice on this thread about how this should not be taken lightly.

I sure understand your worries about your brother, I'm 71, a paraplegic, having just started a 24 week course of chemotherapy ( not ideal for my immune system). My wife is 73 and has her own health problems so together we are a rather anxious couple at the moment, wondering what the future holds for us all.
I agree your tweet about the bucket video was very informative. I heard about it last weekend initially on the Iain Dale programme on LBC.

We usually get the bulk of our food shopping delivered by Sainsbury's plus the odd visit to Booth's.
About two weeks ago we signed up with Ocado, just to have another string to our bow so to speak and had our first delivery last week. Today going on the Ocado website they are saying they cannot take on any new customers at the moment, so we were very lucky to have had our first order already, another dleivery due tonight.
We usually get the bulk of our food shopping delivered by Sainsbury's plus the odd visit to Booth's.
About two weeks ago we signed up with Ocado, just to have another string to our bow so to speak and had our first delivery last week. Today going on the Ocado website they are saying they cannot take on any new customers at the moment, so we were very lucky to have had our first order already, another dleivery due tonight.

The crackdown has started, initiated by the missus.
I phoned her to ask if she fancied going out for a curry tonight after I get back from the gym and she lectured me about how she can't afford to get the virus, how gyms are deathtraps, how the curry house is unhygienic and that the pub is definitely a no-go area. And if she catches it it will be my fault. With no sport on telly I'm seriously worried that if I want my life back I'm going to have to get rid of the missus.
See how the week goes, but it will be definitely crunch time on Friday night, usually footie followed by the pub with the lads. Or not.

A big plus for us is that Ocado deliver everything in bags, so delivery is quick plus you don't have to sign for anything. Sainsbury's don't use bags other than for frozen food. They bring everything in plastic boxes and then manhandle everything, just what we don't want, then you have to sign on some grubby electronic device.
