It's hateful for the media to criticise the Sussexes for urging Americans to reject hate-speech.
Someone influential has to take a stand.

Donald Trump's tax returns have finally been released, and what a story they tell.
In the year of his election he paid just $750.
In 10 of the previous 15 years he paid ZERO tax.

Promoting himself as a successful businessman, how does he explain the year on year losses that allowed him to dodge paying tax?

You can laugh but he takes politics seriously. Apparently he claimed $70,000 for "hair treatment".

He was definitely ripped off.
But he put it through as a business expense.

Trump did achieve one thing last night. He managed to stop Biden from engaging in an actual debate for most of the time. However he may well have damaged himself in the process since many voters seem to have grasped exactly why he was being so impolite. Biden did score big with a lot of undecideds especially when he ignored Trump and spoke to the camera (and thus the American people) directly. Add in that this debate was hosted by a Fox News Anchor (albeit one Trump didn't approve of) and he basically made a fool of himself in front of his most naturally friendly audience.

Whether or not it will do any damage to his base support is yet to be seen but I suspect they will stick with him regardless given what they already know and have apparently decided to ignore. What really matters in my opinion is whether or not he will actually step down peacefully if he loses the election. Frankly I can't see him doing that and given how the US Supreme Court is currently stacked with 'conservative' judges they may well let him get away with it. Whether or not the American people would is another matter.

They will have to drag him out of the White House dragging his stumpy claws across the Oval Room carpet.

A magnificent article on the BBC website, beautifully written, and so sadly true.
