So you were all kicking and maligning Suella yet it’s perfectly clear from her letter that she’d advised Sunak numerous times of the failings within the case and the changes needed to get it through but he wouldn’t listen. Now it’s failed he’s on about making those changes so that’s more money and more time wasted. It should be perfectly clear to everyone now that Sunak never genuinely intended to take the measures necessary to stop the boats including leaving the ECHR which he’s now claiming yet again that he may do. Nonsense, the man’s a charlatan and just as much a liar as Boris was. It’s probably too late to make a change now but to be fair I’d struggle to find anybody suitable anyway.

63, I get the feeling that you are saying this as if we all had voted him in.

At the end of the day, the party has failed as a whole and with this constant cabinet shuffling and unelected prime ministers in, it really is high time that we got a say with a general election!

Sunak is now playing to the electorate. Don’t forget panto season is coming up.

He wants to show he’s now doing something to try and secure the votes for the next GE.

They'll soon have a new leader. The 1922 committee are in session.

You're the new leader?

Well there’s been much talk and criticism to the Tory’s, quite properly I’d have to agree but what about Labour with over fifty numpties, sorry Labour MPs, going against Starmers 3 line whip on the Gaza ceasefire vote last night? Clearly the majority of these cretins are taking the selfish route having large Muslim communities in their constituencies, but surely they must realise that if they are to form the next government, they would have to tow the party line? For me it just illustrates that despite Corbyn not being there, nothing has really changed other than the party moving even further left? Like I’ve said many times, even a bad Tory government is better than a Labour one for this country.

We haven't had a bloody Labour government for 12+ years!!!

I love it when you slag off Labour like other folk stating they are unfit to be in power etc etc. Look at the Conservatives with all their fuck ups!

Labour haven't had the chance YET

I agree KP.
And by the way, 63, this isn't just a bad Tory government, it's a morally corrupt one.

And one only too happy to break the law whilst calling themselves the Party of Law and Order!

I won’t even begin to defend some of the things recent Tory governments have done, or just as importantly, haven’t done but however bad they’ve been they are still better than what lies in store for us if the current Labour Party gets into power with anything like a decent majority. I think the main problem you people are suffering from is that you’ve been blessed with so many f—k ups by Tory’s that you consider anything must be better so let’s give them a try. Well let me tell you, this Labour is nothing like the Blair and Brown ones and if they half knew what they were doing and bankrupted the country, created the problems we’re currently suffering through their interference in the Middle East and implementing laws which are at the route of our current immigration problems, imagine how this lot we’ve got now will do. As I’ve said before, there’s still a chance for the Tory’s as Labour are well known for cocking things up and with this Palestinian thing starting to blow up you can see the Labour Party self destructing yet again.

Quite the reverse actually.

Starmer's stance (which by the way before it is forgotten - he actually WON the vote despite the votes against) was in defiance to the hard left of his party who had to quit their front bench roles...

As a result of last night's vote, there are also no longer any MPs from the Socialist Campaign Group, the organising body for Labour's most left-wing MPs, on the front bench. Of the 56 MPs who defied Sir Keir, 27 are members of this group.

This is one reason why Sir Keir's team have been paying such close attention to whom local parties are selecting as candidates for the general election. Almost none of those chosen in the most winnable constituencies so far are associated with the Labour left.

And it's striking that of the 10 Labour MPs who have entered Parliament in by-elections since he became leader, none rebelled. So the Labour ranks could look pretty different after the next election.

Of course, for many of the Labour MPs who did rebel this was not ideological, but about their own consciences and often about pressure from hundreds or even thousands of constituents.

The clearest example of that is Jess Phillips, who is so far from the Labour left that in 2020 she briefly ran for leader with the support of Rachel Reeves, Pat McFadden and Wes Streeting, all on the right of the party and now leading members of Sir Keir's shadow cabinet.

Those MPs who have spent recent weeks wrestling with the competing forces of party allegiance and constituency anger are, of course, dealing with a question that has faced MPs of all parties for hundreds of years: are they representatives or are they delegates?
