Why would it hurt him to follow the actions of the greatest peace time PM this country’s ever had? Most people of course will see it for what it really is, just a cynical ploy to attempt to appear electable to Tory’s but sadly it won’t work because nothing he could do would ever make Labour look electable to even disenchanted Tory voters who will either vote Reform or not vote at all.boltonbonce wrote:

Churchill wasn’t peace time, your mates removed him after the war then people realised the mistake they’d made and re-elected him again. It happens every single time, people criticise the Tory’s, vote in Labour and live to regret it. History keeps repeating itself as a new load of first time voters think it will be different this time until they learn from experience that it never is. It is widely regarded to be the greatest social reforming government of all time -
It created the NHS
It created free universal health care.
It created the welfare state.
It basically created the building of Council Housing
It nationalised the railways, aviation, the Bank of England, electricity and gas, etc.
It raised the school leaving age.
It rebuilt the economy immediately after the war.
It fell (as most Labour governments do) because of internal political splits - in this case over Unilateral nuclear disarmament.
