I think we might win this one. Probably heart ruling head, but I have a feeling we'll scrape it. I hope that DF will start to integrate a few more younger players, but I can't see it so soon in his tenure. Cardiff have a great attack so it will be interesting to see how DF approaches the game, especially from the defensive angle. Will he do a Megson and sacrifice attackers to defend or will he do a Coyle and throw everyone forward regardless of the consequences? Or will he actually strike the right balance and get a bit more organisation in place where it's needed?

I'm hoping for something fairly radical in both selection and tactics from DF to set the tone and to show he's bringing something new to the table.

My prediction is 2-1.

I think he'll set us up defensive, to attack them on the counter.

I can't see many changes performance wise just yet but we may see a couple of changes in midfield and up front.

3-1 Bolton.

agreed his plan in this game will be "not to concede." A plan that will go out the window when it's 2-0 Cardiff after 20 minutes.

really don't expect him to change much yet, Maybe an appearance for Sordell... about it.

DFSWA dont really fit, too many syllables.

however...

His first name is Dougie, Dougie Dougie,
His second name is Freedman, Freedman, Freedman,
And that's the way we like it, like it, like it...
In fact we fucking love it, love it, love it...
Ohh oh oh oh ohhhhh....oh oh oh oh ohhhhh....

that fits! Embarassed

Natasha would approve greatly....

Just read BoltontillIdie's first post in this thread about set us up defensive and try and hit them on the counter.
I think that's probably about right.
However I think its one of the most depressing things I've read in years.
This is us- 10 years in the Premiership taking scalps from the great teams in England -and now we're reduced to counterattacking a championship outfit on our own midden.
It's too fcuking depressing for words to see how far we've fallen in the past three years

Bolton's shitty defence against Cardiff's lethal forwards? It could be a cricket score.

Counter attacking sounds good ....especially with SKD's lightening pace....streaking from box to box to slot home his third goal of the day.

I'll be having mi 9th pint soon .....cheers.

Whatever the score I think it's fair to say that DF will have done a lot more research about Cardiff than Coyle would have,

1-1,

Maybe sneak an injury time winner during the last desperate, throw everyone forward moments. Bogdan to score a header from a corner (after saving a penalty 5 mins earlier to start his journey to his status of 'legend').

I'd better stop now, getting carried away.

Well this is where we find out just how radical (or otherwise) Freedman is going to be. He faces a well-documented problem - if he sets us up defensively (hopefully not in the Megson style) he'll have to sacrifice something going forward. If he keeps 2 strikers or goes for e.g. 4 - 5 - 1 he might go the whole hog and drop SKD in favour of someone with a bit of pace e.g. Ngog or Sordell. Chance of that is practically zero but it's going to be interesting whatever happens.
